The other ink is Image Specialist BCI-6.

The only problem I have, is that some people are complaining of clogs, but color is good.

I wish you could Email me a copy of your image, so I could test it.

Sometimes the color shift is do to a small printhead clog.

My prints with Canon ink are much more yellow than the profile I sent you. Maybe one of the print nozzles on my printer is clogged. I am going to soak the printhead and try again tomorrow.

no clogs. I've swapped OEM carts. I think I mentioned that b4.

Well something must be seriously wrong. The Canon OEM inks aren't exactly accurate, but close, and correctable.

The profile you sent makes people literally the color of bananas. It's as though I added a 50% yellow layer to the entire image. I couldn't get a print that yellow otherwise without a lot of effort.

You'd be wasting your time. Without a real profiling solution, you don't have the tools to correct it. impossible.

Maybe our monitors are calibrated with very different color shifts.

I wonder.

I am able to reproduce the colors on my monitor quite well. But then that is based on my monitor. If yours is completely different then the one I use, then I could see where we get such a difference.

I apologize if I was responsible for your purchasing of Formulabs. But I still wish I cold see the file you tested.

Mine is color calibrated to be accurate, and is a Mitsubishi 22" the CRT used for professional color accurate monitors. As I've pointed out before, the Formulabs produces ok enough mid tones, but not shadows. That obviously rules out monitor color calibration as the issue, and clearly identifies it as an ink problem, having to do with density dissimilar to Canon OEM ink.

> I am able to reproduce the colors on my monitor quite well.

Actually, I suspect that is not the case unless the ink you have is different from mine. Brunet hair going purple in shadows some people can live with, but not people who want accurate color.

One of the posters here Neil Slade says he thinks some inks color is "good enough" and not noticably off by his standards. IMO the scans he shows of the dancer has one in a red dress, and one in an orangesh dress, which is a pretty big shift!! He also posts example images which are mostly 100% saturation primary colors, not a great way of judging color shift. He points out he's a long time artist and should know color.... so I'm confused by that.

Anyways, it shows "good enough" is relative.

No big deal. No need to apologize. I'll probably try some others and Formulabs may be the least of evils of 3rd party inks for all I know.

Maybe I'll try the Specialist black, that's supposed to be good.

Sorry but it's huge, and besides it would be a waste of time and makes no sense. I have many images that exibt the same problem. Pick an image off the web and try for yourself.

Besides, if you're happy with what you have, you're happy.

Sorry, I just don't want to waste more time with more non-solutions.

I read one of your previous message.

I believe that the reason for us not getting similar results is that you probably did not receive Formulabs BCI-6 ink.

I never said that Formulabs BCI-6 was good for the IP5000, but it is not as bad as some are describing it.

The reason for my suspicion is that you mentioned that one of the cartridges had the (SH) on it. (SH) stands for Sky Horse, a Chinese manufacturer, which as far as I know does not use Formulabs, but its own ink.

I have tested about 100 pages on the Formulabs ink, and I am not getting the disastrous results you are getting, and I find that the color can be corrected.

You can get sample ink directly from Formulabs for testing.

However I do not believe you got Formulabs BCI-6 ink, to great of a difference, even if my monitor was not calibrated.
