My apologies if someone felt offended :( I just tried to mean what you feel about "bad descriptions" leading to potential customers to get their bad described productcs on online listings. It is a well known practice, but I guess is the langugage barrier that causes these misunderstandings.

I had close relations with chinese people some time ago, an aunt of mine was married to a chinese, I will never forget all of the recommendations he gave me for running a bussines, and other things in life. He was very smart, their sons were successful people in life.

I am myself a latin man, many things are said of latin people if I know I don´t fit in the stereotype, well I will not feel offended at all.

As a latin/hispanic man I apologize myself if you find my redaction bad. English is not and has never been my second language, I guess I just sipped a little of american culture through media.

Regarding the thread, can someone please add some pictures that let us identify a refurbished printhead sold as new. I wanted to post a new thread by gathering images, so forum members and guests can benefit from it. Now I have seen sellers are pasting holographic Canon genuine stickers on top of the printhead boxes in order to c...t buyers. Sorry, but I couldn´t figure another word for it.

..makes me think of where the best american apple products of the world are made..

I have bought two PH from this ebay hongkong source, simply because there are no more canon OEM available (for ip4000). The first is working fine so far. While used PH's offered by private ebay sellers are mostly defective.
The truth is they might offer refurbished as new OEM...mine was sealed in bag, but without OEM package and stamp. But it doesn't matter to me - as long as they are working...

Most if not all of the print heads coming out of China offered on EBay are refurbished but that does not mean there’re all rubbish far from it, see @martinOreg example above.

If you have an old Canon printer that needs a print head and they are no longer available then what does one do, you can either dump your prize possession with sadness or take a chance with a refurbished one.

These print heads retail at about half the cost of heads from an Authorised Dealer so it may be worth it to take the gamble to save your printer, but only you can make that decision, Tip:- stock up while you can..

This is what I had commented about martin0reg, he had some success buying from longyue2012 on Ebay. If you call Canon Parts Order Desk at (866) 481-2569 and they dont have carry on stock the part you need, then you need to flirt with the Devil, :fl.
Roll of the dice
Take a spin of the wheel
Out of your hands now
So how do you feel
But you're not gonna win
You'd better go back again

Do you feel lucky
Or do you feel scared?
Take what luck brings
And be Devil may care
But you're down on your luck
And what will the next day bring

There is another path you can go. You can look for printers with a mechanical defect, maybe ink depleted too, and you can ask the seller to only ship the printhead if he agrees then you have found a good deal. :weee

In my country there is a store which has sold Canon for years, I visited it and asked the dependant for a printhead for Pixma IP4700 (QY6-0073), I got if for 63 dollars total. What a deal! Didn´t mind paying taxes nor shipping, there was just a wait time, maybe 1 month or so , also I had the confidence they are distributors for Canon in order to get a genuine printhead.

They had older printheads they had if I am not mistaken a printhead for IP4500 in 50 dollars, I will visit them again to see what they can offer.

Well I buy all my stuff (almost) from Ebay, aliexpress. And while I do open "item not receive" cases 90 of the time seller resolves the problem, by resending the item with tracking number or returning money.

Now one time the seller returned money and I did not get it 50Eur because my local bank got bankrupt for no reason. The money could not go into credit card and went somewhere else???

Now I called the paypal via free number using skype, they transfered my call to ebay (ebay has no such free number so hence the transfer). After 3 hours of transfers from one rep to another I got to answering machine!!! I told them to f**k their asses.

So that's my story how I lost my 50Eur. So it is more unsafe to use paypal (like everyone said on google for years) than it is to buy from ebay.

@Smile: Despite reading four times, I don't understand your conclusion. Almost all eBay transactions are preferably paid by PayPal. If you pay by credit card, in most cases it's PP handling the transaction. Some large merchants will use your credit card directly, but you have to fill in all the data instead of a couple of clicks for PP.

As I mentioned, I got screwed once, too. Consumers have always been screwed from time to time. That's why there are consumer protection agencies, to prevent and investigate. I just will never buy an item costing over about $20 from outside the US.

I payed by paypal too, for a purchase on ebay. The seller made partial refund of 50Eur. This was shown on ebay. Like "seller refunded you 50 Eur" don't remember now exact wording. But paypal did not show such transaction. The seller walked away by pointing to ebay refund. The paypal and ebay did not know where the money went.

Most of the time if it works, it works. If you would live in small country like I do you would buy everything from abroad because your country makes nothing ! No choice.

OK, now I understand. Which is pretty strange since PayPal is owned by eBay. Frankly, I don't understand how eBay could show it and not PayPal, unless the seller told eBay he did/is about to, and then didn't.

I live in a big country, both economically and geographically. And we make less and less. Nothing worth mentioning in consumer technology.
