Take a look at ebay item 290972728708 or 301012913289
I bought several canon PH's from this hongkong seller. Lately two qy6-0049 (ca. 50 euro each) to keep my ip4000 running.
While I am not sure if they were all new or refurbished (they came in a sealed bag but without box) they are printing fine

The Pro-100, apart from the price, is oversized for my needs. I print mostly B&W A4 docs, some color docs, very few photos (I prefer to use a service) and CD\DVD printing is also required. Also I don't print daily, but every now and then (maximum of 30 pages\month)

I already bought an used MP800, but with faulty board, before realizing that swapping printhead was too risky. From the same guy I received for free also a faulty MP600 (without power supply and I suspect with faulted board also): again swapping its printhead is pretty risky.

There are a few MP600 and IP4300 printers in working condition for sale that I currently am evaluating.

There are a few possible way to go:

1)My ip4300 still prints fine with dye ink, so I could just buy a cheap laser printer for text and continue using the IP4300 for CD\DVD and pictures

2)buy a second-hand but working MP600\800\830 or IP4300\5200

3)buy a new Canon after making a crash-course on how refilling the new cartridges.
Choices are iP7250, MG7150, MG5550 or an used MG5350 (found one in my town on sale but with broken head it too :hit).

Refilling the IP43000's cartridges is pretty simple, I would have never thought of being forced to choose a new printer upon the cartridges it uses and how much they are easy to refill :he

Any advice on the three options? :hu

Thank you for your suggestion, i read it only after my last post.

So now we have a fourth option also

4) Buy a new printhead from ebay

For the ip4300 there are still new original PH with warranty to buy for about 70 euro:
ebay 121242783384
(but no more for my ip4000 for which reason I came to the hongkong source)

Hi all,
just found a broken mp600 for few €.

Error 5010: on the manual says "scanner position error" so the scanner unit should be changed.

Is it correct ? somewhere else I found that could be board also (gives for first error b200 and then error 5010) but found no confirmation on Service Manual

Is it difficult to change the scanner unit (I have another mp600 to use as donor)?

Someone on this forum has already tried it?

The Service Manual for the MP610 states Error 5010 is:

The scanner unit cannot detect the home
position, or the scanner unit warming-up
is not performed properly at power-on.
On the LCD, "Scanner is not operating
correctly." is displayed.

The solution is to replace the Scanner Unit.

I had a scanner unit failure on an otherwise functional MP830. My understanding is it is not complex to replace the scanner unit. You do not need to dissemble the entire printer either. This is not to say it won't take time or you'll not have any difficulty. But, looking at the Service Manual, with its pictures and text explaining the process, it looks quite doable.

I guess you already have the service manual and parts catalog for the MP600? Else you will find the links here. For scanner removal see page 1-16 and following pages in the service manual. The parts catalog has some assembly drawings that might also be helpful.

jimbo123 disassembled his MP830 to change the ink absorbers. You find his excellent instruction with photos and links here. Even if it is not the same printer I think useful tips are found in the instruction.

@Łukasz The MP600 service manual found here is the extended version with the technical reference with pin-out for the QY6-0061 print head and more.

I received further information about the error of the broken MP600 that I am going to buy:

For first it shows the B200 error (The VH output is not normal. - Print head (QY6-0061) - Logic board ass'y (QM3-0250)), then the 5010 error (Scanner home position error).

1) Which is the fault when two error codes are shown?

2) Could I assume that also this one has a faulty print-head\logic-board??

Thank you in advance for your help

@Sherden,

To me it looks like faulty MP600 (with scanner related error). And someone put B200 printhead into it. Or, even worse, someone put damaged motherboard into it.

Avoid buying damaged printer from any kind of printer repair-guys (women if you wish).

Buying from regular user is much safer, even if they can't precisely describe error, or even if printer is covered with dust or it casing have scratches or something wrong.

@Łukasz

Thank you for the Help

I am buying it from a regular user. Can I assume that this printer has both the head and the board damaged?

In this case I will buy it just for the Ac Adapter to test the broken MP600 I was given for free (without AC adapter)
