as mentioned above the target file in the 480target.zip contains many more colors than 480 - most likely as the sideeffect from your stretching as mentioned.
Could you post a plain 480 color target tiff file please , with no further modifications to it , with 480 colors, LZW compression possible, 3x8 bit color depth only , in a zip file here since tiff files are not supported. I was trying to place the color points into the RGB or Lab color space but there are just too many colors - 16000 or more as shown above. I still try to see where different programs place the color points in their target files.

ISF, it would be quicker and more precise to create you own target image from scratch using Pharmacists batch file. It requires only one Argyll command line or two if you wish to print it out.

You can just make your own target using the targen command. Despite the extra colors introduced by the stretching, the resulting reading doesn't have any effects on the produced profiles. Many have used my target and the results are really good.

There are version of spiderbot that are overpriced as much as any stratasys printer. The Chinese or Taiwan companies will take over other manufacturers in the long run, and quality filament does cost more. So Sindoh printer with cartridge system does not sound so bad. After all if it (or any locked printer) is so bad and you must use third party filament then stashing some few hundred euros and custom hack can be had on any russian forums.

The problem is reliable hardware and replacement parts. Assembly quality too matters. So kit only printers are not the way to go imho.

I just buy the Epson L805,with 6 ink.
In my case just printer id photos or my portrait works.
Before I read this post, I only used i1 studio software with my colormunki.
Your post is very great job!!! Let me want to try it on Argyll.
But I don't know how many color patchs(2250 957 480) is good in my case.
Because L805 only have 6 color,I know it have a limit.
So I want to know which one is best for me.

Hi to all members,

I have a problem with dark areas when doing profiles from ARGYll compared to xrite i1 Studio software. I get good neutral prints, but i can see the lack of dark tones - it is like a bit of foggy. When i compared profiles with ColorSynch utility i get quite different graphs. ICC from original software is much reacher and deeper compared to profile made from argyll. I am doing something very wrong or is my hardware limited with argyll? Commands that i used for this perticular icc profile were:

disable black point compensation and you will get deeper blacks.

Thank you for the hint. I am printing mostly from perceptual rendering intent, i also tried from relative colorimetric with black point compensation off and was pretty much the same.
