Good explanation. That’s the reason why the printheads from canon are replaceable. But the prices with of 80€ for consumers is mutch to high. A widely used printhead design since years does not justify the price. A maximum of 30€ would be ok and a lot of printers would be saved from the garbage...
I saw less problems with these printers with my own refills (Octopus ink) from Germany than with cheap China ink. One set of bad ink and the printhead showed double lines. I have got a lot of printers for free and use them as spare parts for repairing printers. Most of them have this problem...
The cheaper the paper, the worse is the surface I found out. All these cast coated papers are weak compared to resin coated papers. The best I found up to know is the Sihl 0769 Quick Dry glossy. But its surface is also not very scratch resistant. Some of these papers are very stiff even with 240...
For black and white I was my own lab. For color prints it was not so easy because of the price. Oh, and cheap color labs made bad prints. These are the ones which fade now fast as ”lightning”.
I always said with postcard it doesn’t make sense to have six or more inks. On A4 with a full portrait good developed you might see something. Going to A3 or beyond I am pretty sure that more inks make more sense. What you have at 11x17 mm is then at about 30x40 cm and above. In my eyes it makes...
I think we talking about different things.
Let’s say all visible colors are in a sphere. What’s not visible is not interesting. This sphere is in a cube, the RGB system. You can describe about 25 % more locations with coordinates, but they will be never part of the sphere. Inside the sphere you...
You can’t create 16 million colors with the grid. There are a lot of mathematical points in a cube. A color that cannot be seen is no color per definition. The human eye can distinguish 2.000.000 colors say the one, up to 20.000.000 say others. Nobody has started yet to check the figures. It...
That’s why I use this printer with the four dye inks. It’s good enough for the job. On formats like A3+ or larger there may be differences with certain prints like portraits with a lot of subtle skin tones or with a lot of greens. If the paper has already a tone I think it’s better to have ink...
I also would expect near to no difference to XP-7100 or similar Expression Premium from Epson. Got one a few years ago for 50 Euro and using 105/106 inks with two sets of refill cartridges makes it to the my best A4 printer for photos to the lowest price. The only caveat is the bypass only for...
Did a reset today on a MG7750 without problems. I used Service Tool V5204 which I purchased on eBay for 5$ with a special key. Also tried with another version downloaded somewhere: didn’t work.
The only action I could perform was the reset. After click on button next to main where there is no...
I still hope for living more than 30 years.
Yes the GI-590 are damned cheap. But the GI-53 are not to expensive. So everybody has a choice here. The good thin is, you know what's in the bottle.
I like my Pro-100s, unfortunately there are no bottled inks from Canon, but I still use also...
The GI-590 is no ChromaLife100 ink. Canon even doesn’t mention anything about longevity of these inks. I could not find a statement. It’s the same as with Epson and their cheaper Ecotanks. It’s just ink. Even Claria Home is far away from Claria Premium or Claria HD. I think it’s not correct to...
Reset the printer to factory settings. Than do again a automatic printhead alignment. Normally the more alignments you make the worse it’s getting.
Hopefully the reset deletes also alignment settings.
Yes it is a proof of concept without the need to test everything. It is well known among a lot of people making profiles that waiting a few hours is good, better one night but more doesn’t help much. For pigmented inks you can have a look here...
These are mean values of the 96 patches I suppose. What are the maximum deviations and what colors are affected?
on RC papers a few hours are more ok. Especially cast coated papers showed sometimes a big shift in the darks, also cheap RC papers.
The saturation of the inks may differ even with the same dyes used. Th tank printers might use different algorithms for the ink lay down. Inks for tank printers must have different compositions as the ink supply system is different. This could be viscosity and surface-active agents. So you get...
It‘s the same as with the cartridges: 5 in Europa and 2 in USA. The discussion can’t go to an end as we don‘t make the decisions on the naming. As a long time responsible developer for products I know that this is normal. Sometimes you only have to do a slightly different certification for the...
