Diferences in warranty conditions go into the fineprint of the documentation which nobody reads until you need it and mkt bonus actions like warranty extension runs via registration on a resp. web site which their software can control on country level, that would not justify a different model number. And it's not just the printers with different model numbers, the consumables have different item numbers as well - the G650 comes with GI53 inks, the G620 comes with GI23 inks, the G610 with G13 inks......................

Canon will monitor the success of the G550/650 models, customer acceptance etc and plan from there, a G series A3 model as a dye ink printer would compete with their own Pro-200, I'm not sure that they can differentiate those enough to keep both models running, Epson has several A3 dye ink cartridge printers aside to the ET-8850 - like the HD-XP-15000 or the XP-970 with an A3 single sheet bypass and some earlier models like the 1500W - 6 colors - of which new/unused units still pop up here and there. The L1800 A3+ unit - with 6 dye inks - is not available in Germany.

Canon will create a model just for the Far East or whereever market region - and you'll never can buy one......

Epson is playing such games - the low end Ecotank printer only model - L300/310 was never available in Germany but only more east of it - if you want an Ecotank model you are supposed to buy a more expensive one here. The L310 is phased out, and the direct successor as a low end printer only - the L1110 is still not available in Germany - we are not supposed to get that low end/low price model to purchase here. And there are more similar examples

I'm less familiar with the Canon printer sprectrum, I think there are the IX6850 and the IP8750 as A3 cartridge printers on the market, at the same time, I don't know how much they differ in inks and print quality and in comparison to the Pro-200, A A3 G65x Megatank model would compete against those or replace at least one of them.

Time ago I read that some people was able to get Canon/Epson models unavailable in the German market, purchasing them at Polish websites, or maybe it were German vendors 'sneaking' those printers from Poland or the Czech Republic into Germany. Not Canon or Epson officialy appointed dealers, or course.

yes, there is a somewhat small gray market, some German companies import these Eastern Europe models, and there are a few distributors from Poland or Hungary or Czechia even running a sales office in Germany. I got some printers via these sources like the L800/805 - a Ecotank A4 photo printer with 6 inks like the previous P50 unit, this model L805 was never offered on the German market by Epson, you rather should have purchased a more expensive model they think.

It‘s the same as with the cartridges: 5 in Europa and 2 in USA. The discussion can’t go to an end as we don‘t make the decisions on the naming. As a long time responsible developer for products I know that this is normal. Sometimes you only have to do a slightly different certification for the aimed market and you give the product a different designation number. These are things behind the scenes which others don’t know. The product itself might be 100% identical, except the printed name on the front. Even in Europe you can have differing requirements depending on the Country. Not everything is harmonized yet. Only think when the UK was part of the EU. Inches instead of millimeters and some other things. I don’t know why there is still a difference between some western and eastern European countries. Maybe a specialist can tell.
At least one thing I know is, that in the Tschechoslowakin Replubik they have a different wall plug than we have in Germany. The ground lead is different and you need another cable.

I'm glad that Epson and Canon do not define their model numbers along the variety of different power cords - there are plenty more - I had a vast collection from most of the industrialized countries.
Desktop printers are designed such that the electronics are running on SELV - safety extra low voltage separated from the mains with double insulation , so there is no protective ground connection - printers are running with a 2 wire power connection - the double insulation is indicated by 2 little square boxes - one in the other - on the equipment label.
Yes, the UK power connector is pretty unique but there are other strange connectors as well on this earth.

I have a Brother J4340DW sitting on my desk which has a ground lead and also bigger workforce printers have it. I don’t know the cable of the ET-8550.
