Hello everyone

I'm relatively new to the world of refilling cartridges - I've owned a brilliant Canon Pixma ix6550 for the last 18 months and had no problems refilling compatible print cartridges with Lyson Inks until last week. For some reason, even when I bought new cartridges and refilled them, the ink tanks weren't recognised - despite all the lights being on. I was absolutely tearing my hair out trying all sorts of weird and wonderful printer spells and incantations - press the power and resume button together, pull the USB cable out, uninstall and reinstall the printer software etc etc. I was just about to spend a frightening £60 on brand new Canon cartridges, when I found the answer via a forum here. Canons seem to prefer their own cartridges - so I chip swapped my original Canon chips (I'd thankfully kept the original cartridges) onto my refillable cartridges - and bought the appropriate chip resetter from Octoink. It worked! And now I'm the happiest person on the planet!

Welcome to the forum, nice idea you have done there with printing onto fabrics also The only thing before i go making a bunch of T-shirts does the ink vanish when you put items in the wash?

Congrats on finding Octoink also, stocks all the useful little bits us printaholics need

So I refill my ink tanks with Lyson inks - so they're allegedly permanent.... I've ironed my items and handwashed them with no disasters - but not machine washed them - now my printers back up and running I plan to experiment - will let you know how this goes,

Interesting to know, will have to go read up on Lyson Inks If you have hand washed with no issues then they are probably permanent (or as permanent as ink can be) hand washing would probably also cause ink to run unless it is all pigment ink. Either way again welcome and thanks for the information May have a go at this for my fathers club and shirts with their logo.

I'd had a look at the website but this is Marliese's baby so I'll let her post links and what not, but have to say the approach is right out of some of our DIY book.. V' interesting stuff..

Results quality wise look no where near as good as @ThreeBearsPrints fabric experiments but due to its DIY approach and it being something other than regular paper printing it was worth a mention. More experimenting for us printaholics (that guy in the video also always cracks me up everytime, i dunno why).

Hello everyone, thank you for your lovely comments. So yes, I've been printing directly onto fabric - I know there are different techniques you can use, like ironing the fabric onto freezer paper - but I definitely got the best results by using the mountspray technique - by placing the fabric onto card it was supported easily into the printer. I print using a 'photo paper' setting, and upping the contrast a bit, and dulling the brightness to compensate for the white fabric.
