Yes, you will need carts. Either buy new Canon carts at Staples (or equal), or set up an automatic search on eBay for "empty bci6" like I did and buy what you need. There are other alternatives as well, BUT STICK WITH CANON OEM CARTS!

What happened to the carts you used to use? They can be flushed and re-used as well.

Those are long gone.. I have 2 sets of used non OEM carts but deciding if I want to refill or buy a epson artisan 730 and use a CIS system since doing 100 borderless 8x11's is going to suck a lot of ink.

If you have a problem getting empty BCI-6 carts try getting onto www.precisioncolors.com
they normally stock empty CLI-8 cart, both of these cartridges are the very same..
