been a while, just sharing some printer longevity numbers, see attached eeprom printout

MP830:
- 7 years old
- 60,000 pages printed
- D = 60%
- purchased refurbished for $99 directly from canon

waste pads were changed once already at 37,000 pages
http://www.printerknowledge.com/thr...-pad-replacement-at-37-000-pages-w-pics.7646/

more numbers:
- have refilled 400+ ink cartridges over the 7 years, using only 9 OEM ink carts, 2 of the CLI8 carts are original, on 4th print head

MP830 keeps going and going, my only problem is that i take this quality printer and the easy refills for granted

any other printer longevity numbers ?

J

ST=... and LPT=... also match 7 years :)

Now find those counters in the RAW dump at the bottom of the page

Printer life data from service manuals:
ip4000: 18000 pages (mixed) same for machine and printhead, resp. 5 years for machine

4 printheads seems to be quite reasonable, I have burnt just as many while printing much less on several pixma's, surely below 10k...

actually my print head number for this MP830 is more like 2.5 print heads.

i had a previous MP830 that died(logic board) at 22,500 pages, i then swapped over the print head and carts to this MP830

My printout below. She's older than yours, Jimbo, but still has that new printer smell. :D

(Refurb model recently put into service)

I wonder how many members there are in the "PGI-5/CLI-8 Fan Club"? I am one :).

the PGI-5/CLi-8 and the older CLI-6 printers are far superior to the lilliput size CLI-526 printers with inferior rails and heavily cleaning cycles to dump ink and to saturate the ink absorption cushions.

That's impressive, and the only recorded errors are "1000" which is a harmless operator call meaning no paper.

I wonder who has the oldest Canon printer still going strong? :)
