I have a canon ip4000r put in new ink after none use of 6 mos. Can't get the printer head to come center. It is stuck/locked to the far right won't budge how can I get it to release and return to the center? Tried unplugging, tried to manually move to the left, but it won't move at all any suggestions? I'm confused: how did you put in new ink if the print head won't come to the center?

Some advice: don't force the print head or try to move it manually as you can break the lock which you don't want to do.

Does it power up at all?
Do any lights come on?
Does the printer make any noise from motors running?

yes all lights are on, printer clicks for a second(when it is trying to move). I can see the printer head trying to move for bout half a second but for the most part it just seems locked to the far right

Turn off your printer and unplug it. Remove all the paper in the trays. Turn it upside down and listen for loose parts? If there are any try to get them out of the printer. Let us know what happens.
