I am afraid the PRO-1000 is a bit the same as a PRO-1, maybe a bit less stubborn.
Pro-1000 has a user-replaceable and much more durable printhead, and non-pressurized ink system, so it is very much different, but for occasional printing and small formats it is too expensive, too high-maintenance, too wasteful and much harder to refill than the venerable Pro-10.

Firstly welcome @Braddie149, and everything else goes downhill from here, let’s start, you say you replaced an empty cart with an OEM cart, that would suggest not all your carts are OEM ?

Now the B200 error is a fatal error and no amount of Friggin around with this printer will get round that, the printer has a live EPROM and it determines whether or not you can print, not you, this machine can think !

If the answer to my question above is yes then you’ll need a set of matching carts to remover the error, because I suspect that’s what triggered the error in the first place.

Now your work inside the printer, removing the print head has probably killed off any chances you ever had of getting the printer working again, this is not a normal Canon printer, you just can’t remove the head willy nilly. She bites back..

My advice now is to remove all the carts and turn it off, wait ½ an hour power it on again, then slowly replace all the carts, close the doors and see what the printer will do next, if the error has cleared you’re going to waste 35% of your remaining inks no matter what..

P.S. @malantheon post above is very good advice..

Thanks for the reply

All carts are genuine Canon, the doors won't drop down due the error.

So i'm guessing it's not worth pursuing this error any further & think about a replacement?

What's the consensus on a Pro 10s v the new Pro 200 / 300 model, although i think the 300 may be too expensive for me...

Don't compare the Pro 200, which is the Pro 100 replacement and thus is using dye inks and not pigment. General consensus is, that the Pro 300 upgrade is incremental. If you can get a good deal on Pro 10, that would be probably the way to go, especially if you are saying that Pro 300 is too expensive for you. As a bonus you will also get hassle-free refilling option with a single-purchase chip resetter.

Yeah i appreciate the Pro 200 is the older 100 replacement, but it seems to get good reviews, plus buying new will get me a guarantee.

Does the 10s not have the same B200 issue or was that more on the Pro 1

The 10S still seem to fetch reasonable money considering it must be a few year old model wise?

We are comparing peaches to apples now. Yes, both are fruits. Both, 200 and 300 are getting good reviews. They are both incremental upgrades to already good printers. If the difference between dye and pigment ink is not important for you, get the dye ink printer and make your life easy (and printing generally cheaper :) Explaining the difference is beyond the topic of this thread. I'd suggest to you to start a new topic or find another more appropriate topic as this one is related to Pro 1 printhead replacement.

Pro 10/10S is VERY DIFFERENT different printer than Pro 1 from the technological point of view (different printhead, different ink system, really really different). Moneywise, a lot depends on where you live... Pro 10s might have retained some value because people know what they have, it is probably the best (and as of today last) printer with resettable chips and easy ink refilling.

Hmm, food for thought

Ok, if you had to choose between a used Pro 10S or a new Pro 200 - which one & why?

Just after a bit of guidance from more knowledgeable people than me..

As a refiller PRO-10(S) without any doubt.

There is no resetter for the PRO-200.
All dye refill ink fades within months exposed to light and gases, refill pigment ink takes as many years.
There is no source for OEM dye ink in volumes, while large format OEM pigment ink works in the PRO-10 (with custom profiles).
If you only can live with high glossy prints the PRO-10 could disappoint. Gloss is very good with CO (bronzing and gloss differences are things of the past) but not at the same level as from a dye printer.

Thanks for the response guys, ive been chewing it over & may well decide to save up for the Pro 300...

I'm slowly going off the Pro 10S due to it's age, i think i'd rather spend extra & have the peace of mind a new printer will have warranty.
