Hi and welcome, now for the bad news, the print head on the Pro 1 is not serviceable outside the printer, so if you wish to unclog the head and get it printing again then let the printer do the work for you.Would anyone help with head removal instruction?
Howdy! I couldn't help over hearing you know a procedure to remove the heads of the Canon Pro 1. Would you be kind enough to forward it to me also @The Hat? Cheers!Wow, you fallen into a Vipers den on this one, firstly ask why does the head need replacing and secondly why did the owner remove all the cartridges, ? that does not make any sense.
If I were you I’d leave this one alone, because you’ll get no thanks for all your efforts’, it’s going to be very costly to correct his mistakes, the big question is what has he done that he’s not telling you, and now he is expecting you to rectify all of his blundering efforts’.
The procedure for removing the print head is not straight forwards and will require all the cartridges to be put back into the printer before you can even think about head removal, this printer had a live intelligent memory that works even when the unit has no power.
I will PM you the procedure for head removal, because as I’ve said it’s not straight forwards and there are many hurls to overcome...
Howdy in deed, it’s not quite as simple as that, who are you, because you need to start by telling us what’s wrong with the printer would help enormously, a bit of history goes a long way..Would you be kind enough to forward it to me also @The Hat? Cheers!
Of Course! Im a graphic designer living in Sydney atm and I've had this printer (CANON PRO 1) in storage for over 5 years, I didn't know this could damage jet printers, but here I am leaning the hard way. I also have an Epson Photo 1410 that might need the same reviving procedure soon, but for now back to the Canon. I've done all the self cleaning nozzle solutions and it helped immensely, the test prints improved dramatically over every single clean, however the "PBK" in group one doesn't seem like it's complete and I'm running out of ink, so I thought maybe I could try a head nozzle cleaning procedure, or I could just buy more ink and keep running the cleaning procedures. Note: I have done the nozzle clean, deep clean and system clean at least twice. below is the first clean versus the tenth clean.Howdy in deed, it’s not quite as simple as that, who are you, because you need to start by telling us what’s wrong with the printer would help enormously, a bit of history goes a long way..
The Canon Pro 1 is not a printer you can mess with likely, so we’d like to know what happen to it and what makes you think it needs a new print head.. All these thing matter a great deal..
The Red is missing along the top edge as well.the "PBK" in group one doesn't seem like it's complete
I don’t reckon at this stage there’s any point in saying what you should have done on start-up, while your cleaning routine was very brutal, but it still didn’t get you the perfect results you were looking for.
At this stage your looking at all new carts plus a new print head and frankly that’s nearly the price of a new printer, so you should take stock of this before you go any further, the Pro 1 will work 100% again if your prepared spend more money on it..
Your options are, going down in price a new Pro 300 (Pigment) Best, a Pro 200 (Dye) Good or a second hand Pro 10 (Pigment) Excellent, all 3 options will cost you but they might be better suited to your kind of work flow, both the Pro 10 and Pro 300 have near the quality of the Pro 1 without all the feckin tantrums..
If you decide on a new print head then come back and let us know when you have got it and we will provide you with the procedure to remove the head safely, and get things back to normal (Whatever that maybe with a Pro 1)
P.S. I would let the printer sit for 24 hours and then run another nozzle check, just on the odd chance that the PBK channel just might come back to life, (It’s a million to 1), Sorry for the bad new.. You gave it a fair go..
Oh yeah Totally! missed that thanks mateThe Red is missing along the top edge as well.
Thanks for the info, I'll try running another nozzle check as suggested it's been a good 72hrs by now. The ink cartridges I've used for the cleaning are some German after market that cost me a fraction of the Canon's. I paid like $100AUS delivered. The prints are ok too despite the missing colours. I would've thought I could have a crack at cleaning the heads prior to ordering new ones yea? alternatively I will get another printer and yes indeed have eye on the 300.I don’t reckon at this stage there’s any point in saying what you should have done on start-up, while your cleaning routine was very brutal, but it still didn’t get you the perfect results you were looking for.

Believe it or not running test prints before you have a clear nozzle check is probably what done the damage, all the nozzles much be firing correctly before you can print a page, the ink is needed to keep the nozzles cool during printing, this prevents burn out, (Nozzle check excluded)The prints are ok too despite the missing colours. Here's a before and after pre and post nozzle cleanings.
