Looking at the close up photo comparisons it is apparent that the Epson soundly beats the Canon with finer details in most cases (black text in normal quality setting seems to favor the Canon).
I think that's the essence of the report - you buy a photo printer by the photo print quality first but there are plenty other details users might be interested in - cost/print - print speed - handling - connectivity and more

Canon continues to introduce the G650/620 megatank printer with yet a different model name G610/510 in Mexico and probably in other Central/South American countries - the G510 is a printer only model, the G610 is the combo with a flatbed scanner on top. The inks are the Canon GI-13 inks with red and gray.

I think it's better they have different naming than just doing region coding in the machine only. So it is obvious for everybody that there are differences.

Which are ? Even in the EU - ET-8550 in the western range and L6180 east of it - that doesn't match the idea of a European common market , and the WE model comes with a warranty sheet covering all countries , and the manual is titled ET-8550/L6180

I couldn't find the L6180 on the Epson site. Please give me a link. If they only have small differences, like warranty then they are different. At least the inks have different codes. I have no information, whether they are also hard coded differently.
See picture from manual.
Maybe there are not all the same languages available on the device. You have one. Are all the languages for the Eastern European countries available?

There was a typo in your designation: It is the L8180.
Comparing both on the Epson sites: 3 years of warranty for ET-8550 after registration not available for L8180 on the EU site but on the cz site.
Also buyable warranties are different, see pictures. These are not technical, but can make a difference if you need them.
