Before I comment, what camera & lens did you make this image with and when?

From the armchair, with the window door open, 7D II, 70-200, yesterday, must have been about 40 ft away. Be kind!:)

You mean "shot by a lazy couch potato" using top shelf gear...........right!:gig:gig:gig

You consistently get super colours, 100%. You might consider trying at f4 to isolate the subject front and back...that would have the effect of bringing the subject even more into the limelight....... failing that you could brush some blur into the foreground in LR6 and see if you like the effect?

cheers

Yes, I agree with you, I was trying to keep on target, not thinking about much else.

I agree with 3 dogs. Excellent capture, but the background is still somewhat prominent and visually too dominant.

In addition to the blur brush, could also consider desaturating the background slightly to make is less prominent.

If it was me then I’d wait till the little guy grew up a bit and didn’t look so bedraggled, typical teenager..:hu

I would add that the young robin image is just a quick snapshot rather than a work of art (they are much rarer than a mature bird and difficult to catch and don't stay in one place more than 2 seconds). Thus all the comments are valid.

@Emulator I am surprised you got him to stand still long enough to capture the shot, he looks like a little ruffian and always on the move..;)

The fact that it is a hard to get image just adds to its value. It is already a grand capture so all the comment need be seen as supporting such an image. The subject is well placed, sharp and in fine colour but so is the background-foreground. The tree is a very dense one with lots of detail and whilst perfect for that robin context (christmassy) it is going to be distracting to some viewers. So all I am saying is if you wanted to have a play with the image to see what variants you could extract from it you could have a bash at........what has been suggested. LR gives you the ability to make as many vutual copies as you like all non destructive and that, for me is the fun part of LR......it is possible to generate countless what ifs....
Cheers

OK, let's make it a CONTEST for PK, take that image (post#190) and make it into the image you favour and post it up on PK, prize to be provided by @The Hat on the basis of the number of "likes"!
