No,

You can put ARChips on ciss without disabling ink monitor from printer, doing so won't void any warranty

I do not like CISS with Canon, had very bad experience with them and the latest Canon printers are made in such a manner, using a CISS is very difficult and keeping it working for a long periode without problems is almost none existing. One could drill a hole on the right of the printer and guide the CISS tubing along the white strip and attach the tubing on it, so it can move freely along the carrige of the inner area of the printer.

I use the Ciss ink system on 5 different Canon printers. I would recommend them for volume printing as I print around 5000 sheets per month and dont have a problem with any of them. I keep the lids of each printer half open while printing and that seems to work for me, i.e. Ciss inks just work great.. Ink monitoring is no problem as all tanks are visible and can be filled while the printer is running. So if you are thinking of Ciss for the future, just make sure you buy from a reputable dealer and that they sell High grade inks, best of all Ciss are 80% cheaper than cartridges and you seldom have to run head cleaning. Just dont mix different brand inks together or the print heads will get all clogged.

Current Printers:- IP4300 / IP4500 / IP4700 / i9950 / IP 4000 / non Ciss i865 / Pro 9500 II

Because on some canon printers the tubing supplying the cartridges can occasionally snag and or can be noisy
