No, I'm not even sure how to install it, it's a cab file? How do you open it? and then what do you do? And do you think it has the original software that is missing from the package I found with the Windows 11 update search?
Thanks,

Google is your friend here.

7-Zip, WinZip, and other programs will open a Windows cabinet file. As for what features you'll get in the driver, there's no way to know other than trying.

Right-click on the .INF file.
Click Install.
Confirm, if prompted.

I'm not sure. I would open each .inf file with a text editor, such as Wordpad, to check the contents. That should give you a hint.

Or you could post them here and we could look at them. IIRC, there's no harm in installing a print driver for a printer you don't have. I'm not sure if it will confuse Windows or not, but I don't believe so.

I had some time yesterday to fool around with this. Three of the inf files mention the K8600 in the text, but are rejected in the driver update, and I tried the rest of the inf files I dl'd and none of them worked. I did find another wide format HP, in the Windows driver update, the older 7500A and it worked, but the interface is the same basic one I have with my K8600, so it must be a Windows 11 over ride and it had the same lack of choice for Tabloid or 13x19 papers.

Thanks for all your help, I'm looking into getting a new printer and I definitely want one with refillable ink tanks because the ink cartridges are so $$$

You already mentioned eco tank type printer. Typically those are higher upfront cost and then low cost per page.
What are you other must requirements for the new printer.
What size paper is a must have.
Do you need an all in one with scanner, copying (2 sided), fax
Do you have any high volume needs that would lean towards speed of printing?
Price range of interest?
Any other criteria

I am sure forum members can give targeted suggestions with your new requriements (which may be different now than your K8600
