embguy is 100% correct. Somewhere on your printer will be the model #...you have to know it when you order more cartridges.
Once you get the model number, you can download the correct drivers from the Dell website. If you have problems with the downloading, I'm sure Dell would sell you a new...
If you are going to have periods of months or even years when the printer won't be used, I suggest that you get yourself a new or second hand laser printer. Inkjet printers work best when used frequently, and also, your ink cartridges will eventually evaporate if not used for months on end...
According to Inktec, they have a number of resellers of Inktec products in Africa..here is the link that your sister could contact for African distributors
http://www.inktec.com/english/distributor/where_detail.asp?product_flag=OA
Just choose Africa from the dropdown list.
I'm not sure what your problem is or which language you want to use, but it is worth uninstalling (not just deleting) your printer driver.
See if there is an updated driver with your preferred language and Operating System on the canon site, download it, and re-install it.
It's worth a try.
Certainly sounds like an electronic problem if your printer does not recognize any # 22 cartridge - even a new genuine HP. Try cleaning your electric contacts on the printer (where the copper strip on the cartridge makes contact with the printer)..if that does not work, try to contact HP tech...
You could certainly find some genuine Canon empties at a reasonable price, reset them and use the reset chips in your stsyem, unless I've missed something.
Good luck!
Most likely we'll be hanging on to our models that use the PGI-5 and CLI-8 easy-to-fill-and-reset models for few years to come. These are very similar to the BCI-3 and BCI-6 series and are very reasonable to operate, especially if you refill your own.
There are still some models available and...
It is certainly worthwhile in your case to uninstall your printer drivers, then re-install them. I have had to do it with this model, and it has made a difference.
Also, your printer is 5-6 yrs old now, and it migh be showing it's old age.
And, why do you not use the #56 black cartridge instead...
If your printer is less than 1 yr old, then you can have it fixed for free as it still is under warranty. of course. Occasionally, Canon will do repairs if the warranty period has just ended. It's worth a shot, and good luck!
It does indeed.
After many hours I have been able to clear a very hard-packed paper jam, and I have been able to get rid of most of the black lines,,although I may have to clean it a few more times. The first test print was wonderful as per usual.
This has been a spectacular printer over the...
That is sound advice as usual. Grandad 35, but I live in a very small town (400 people) and I do a lot of photo printing for several other small local towns. I certainly would have to raise prices if switching to the cli-8 carts because they are several dollars (each) more expensive than the...
I need some help and opinions from the experts here. My always - trustworthy i9900 might be on the way out. I had a bad paper jam last night which I cannot clear. Not only that, every print lately has long black lines on the bottom of every print, and I do not have the technical savvy or tools...
Welcome to the forum....
More information is needed. Do you have a budget? Will you also be wanting a scanner/copier..if so you will need an all-in one (multifunction) printer.
Do you plan on doing your own refilling, or will you be buying new cartridges when needed? These days, it is wise to...
ghwellsjr's information is totally correct.
If you do have a used, empty PGI-5 lying around, try putting in some Windex with ammonia into it, and running 2-3 cleaning cycles form time to time.
The printhead might be burned out, but it IS possible that it can be rescued.
