Hello Arienne,
In concern of double sided printing, this feature is "Windows only". Any way, even with the Window driver it still is a "fake" double sided printig as you have to feed the paper two times. All you have to do is to give attention the way you turns the paper before printing the...
Hi piers,
The dampers are filters to prevent pigments of big size to go into the printhead. They are fixed directly on the printhead with the ink assy.
I had a problem with ink vomits on my 1400 converted to b/w printing. I found out that the vomits came only when using the epson driver and...
You are welcome piers. There are two ways to have "vomits", either condensation or the gap between printhead and substrate. As there is no heat by using an 9600 …

Hi Misca,
Hope these answer wont be too late; By my own experience i would say that there are only Oki and Xante printers which can handle heavy cardstock. Watch out for an used Oki C9600, I used one of them very succesfully a couple of years ago. You can use that printer with the C9800 Graphic...
Let us say that some software does the job if you don't reaches out for "the perfect" profile. A perfect profile will be from interrest in industry, photographers don't really need this.
May I ask you from which country in Europe you comes from ?
I agree about the Spyder. But ther is more than the calibration device, software is very important too. There is some very crapy software around, even included in some very pricy professional rips.
Hi Kain,
there is no black ink in the print. Have a look on printhead and cartridge.

Verify the settings. If your printer is set to CMY there will be no black ink used
Hello Emmet, Print out the uploaded file. Normaly it will use only the K channel.
Edit :
I didn't mention that the file have to be printed out without any colormanagement, the same way as you will print a calibration file.
You are welcome, Piers. For the paper, I know this from my brother who runs a blueprinting business (but also another one dedicated to fine art and latex printing).
Hi Piers,
My objection are for general purpose to give some hints to everyone either for hobby or to those who are thinking about of do some commercial production.

Hello, what a nice thread. As I have some expirience in garment printing due to my work in r&d some observations.
A) To avoid wrinkles the garment have to be primed first. Priming will achieve cleanig but also makes sure that the ink won't go to far into the garment and prevents bleeding...
The plotter you mentionned is a hybrid printer using dye and pigment inks (black is pigment).
As Ink stained fingers said, you can't bring your own ink to a printer. Even if there is no risk to use dye inks with any epson photo plotter it's very hard to purge them without the genuine epson...
As far as I know all production printers in industry have ink tanks. But you can't compare them to printers like Epson or Canon. Their printers, even if they claim them to be professional are not suited for heavy duty. Lack of speed and durability. I worked with DTG Printing systems able to...
There will be a new software based on Argyll color engine released "soon". I have to do some testing under industrial working conditions in a few weeks to verify the "superority" of Argyll vs. Colordata and xRite software.

Hello Harry,
Exception the M and LM cartridges you can use the the pro 3800 cartridges. The only difference between 3800 and 3880 are the notches on M and LM carts.

Hello Fader,
The easiest way would be to ask a CAD Printing office or an architect to print out your artwork. They use dye inks in their plotters and usualy they also have photo quality paper in stock. I think that HP CAD plotters will give you the best results in quality.
