Personally, I wouldn't discard old dye ink if:
* It hasn't formed algae
* It doesn't foam after shaking
* It doesn't stick to the container after shaking
* It hasn't evaporated
I recently discovered two small bottles of magenta & yellow ink I bought almost 10 years ago from Weink (Image...
3 years ago I faced the same dilemma over my MP750. It was quite difficult to disassemble, but I did it, I cleaned the pads with hot water and chlorine, let them dry for a few days and then reassembled the printer. It worked great and it's a great machine, still serves me faithfully.
Here is a...
When I had contacted Canon over this issue they told me it was to prevent ink from being visible on the other side of the paper which is important for two-sided prints. They are partially correct, low quality thin paper definitely has this problem with the high intensity pigmented black color...
I am not sure about HP's shorter startups. In my workplace we have a large HP MFC that uses #88 ink tanks and takes ages to start printing.
But I need to know: did the ip4700 start the extended cleaning cycles after you've disabled ink monitoring or it was doing from the beginning ?
Yes it's an old video, probably HP propaganda -- too professional looking to be made by a 3rd party.
However, it still lives: I've noticed, in discussions in other forums especially local ones in my country, that it is often used by refill shopkeepers because they make most of their profit by...
If the amount is tiny, it's probably not an issue. Perhaps you can test (I don't have access to these bottles) and report back to the forum.
But considering jimbo123's experience with the Durchstich method and squeeze bottles I would simply follow his advice without further testing...
Yes.
The cartridge may keep leaking for a long time they way you've placed it to rest because an ink line may have been formed between the sponge and the paper towel.
Don't worry, just clean the cartridge's top and then make sure it doesn't drip from the bottom exit port.
No matter what...
"I keep the pressure on the bottle" <-- I don't understand that.
I remove the syringe by holding it by its body, not the plunger.
No ink spills out this way.
No matter which method I would choose, I find transparent cartridges a necessity. Even though I am loyal to original cartridges for their superior design & manufacturing, I would first try to find the highest quality transparent aftermarket cartridges.
You reasoning against an open refill hole is logical but in all those years I'm using the German method, I haven't resealed the refill hole once.
It wouldn't hurt if done correctly but it is not recommended in the original method and it would defeat the advantage of "I can have all my carts...
As I have never had a Canon printer fail on me, and that includes a Canon BJ10ex which I had used for 12 years before donating it, I can only reply this:
Yes. After printing thousands of pages on my MP750, I replaced the print head and quality was restored to that of a new printer.
If you wish to print a lot of invoices then you may consider a low cost thermal printer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhUzd8YXYSk
Paper rolls are much much cheaper per invoice than A4 and A5.
I think it won't be long before it's available on countries with more relaxed patent laws.

Quite funny video and cheesy acting!
It's not the chips that annoy me the most... it's the miniaturization of the cartridges. I think this is the most efficient way to make sure that customers who value time required for refilling more than the cost of the cartridge will choose originals.
How many times can a user of those...
Multifunctionals such as my MX850 and MP750 print two sheets of paper which are meant to be placed to the scanner for the calibration process.
Your printers (and most expensive Canon models) have a sensor to do this without a scanner.
Cheaper models (such as my IP3300) offer the manual...
I think Stratman makes an excellent point and the fact that Canon supplied only two special sheets of auto-calibration paper on my MX850 is proof that calibration is not meant to be a regular maintenance operation. Possibly there are high precision mechanisms that calibrate the print head's...
I am sorry but I do not understand the relation of your response to my posting.
I did not make any points about the location of the holes, the upper sponge and soaking irregularity thereof or the air travelling. Also I didn't make any personal attacks, so the messenger is not shot. A simple...
mikling's theory can prove helpful to those refilling a dry cartridge with the Durchstich method.
However I don't agree to his point about the German method causing refilling problems on dry sponges for the simple reason that I had these problems and indeed in a much larger scale when I was top...
Perhaps because it allows them to fill more cartridges at the same time.
The time required for the upper sponge to appear fully soaked is probably not worth the advantage of a minority of customers thinking they are getting a better deal.
