Arggggh: auto-reset chips driving me mad !!!

My Epson 1500W run low on LM and LC ink, so suddenly I get the message of LM to be replaced (empty). I took the cartridge out and re-insert the one to reset. So fine so far...after dumping alot of ink: my LC ink was empty according to the chip. So again taking out and re-inserting the cartridge. Fine: reset......but now my K was empty too, so again the same story.....pffff: so much ink dumped. I am getting crazy about this.

I hope the resetter I ordered will overcome this problem and reset all chips at the same time to prevent this ink spileage.

On my Canon printers I change all of the cartridges when only one is showing low, that is to avoid the very scenario you have just described..

Two sets of refillable carts solve the DOMINO effect problem!
When one cart is empty out goes the complete set and replaced by a complete filled one.
I've been preaching that workflow to everyone since I began to refill.

I know this problem, but I wait for my resetter to overcome this problem and reset the cartridges after each refill of any empty cartridge and refill all at once. I do it with my Epson T291 cartridges do (auto-reset) and it works.

The same thing happened to me on my R3000 (in my case it was the yellow) I solved the problem by replacing the whole set (like Jose mentioned in his post) that way I avoided not only a waste of ink but the unnecessary rise of my blood pressure

Please consider installing an external waste ink collector. It can either be a plain plastic bottle such as an ink bottle or you can always go for the elegant solution and install a Printer Potty from Octoinkjet. I can vouch that it is TOP quality, works perfectly and looks great.

I looks like you are working on a MAC? I wonder if you can run a waste ink counter resetter on a MAC? When the time comes you will have to figure that out. The many EPSON Adjustment Programs I have only work on Windows and many only on XP. But you have plenty of time yet.

Indeed. I did that with some of my sets of Autoreset carts. I did not want to do the single cart business because I had to wait till one was empty. I do have some EPSON resetters that will reset these types of chips as well as the OEM ones.

Hi Joe,
I indeed have an external waste ink collector installed (plastic bottle) on my printer, that is a must! I do work on Mac (well a hackintosh and now my MBP is pretty much a dust collector) for PS & LR and pretty much everything else, but for the adjustment program I use Windows 7 (that is my other OS via chameleon) like you I was a Windows guy for many years, but as I have mentioned in other posts the instability of PS made me move to Mac OS and haven't looked back.

OK, resetter has just arrived...because it has only 7 pins, it was a bit confusing, but I discovered it must be used up-side-down, with the two outer contacts below not touching the pins of the resetter and it works:

No more ink dumping again: when one run out, take all cartridges out and refill them all and reset and waste ink only once, not many times as I have experienced.
