This one was annoying to print. The walls are very thin and it failed a couple of times. The original flame model walls were about the thickness of tissue paper and I had to correct that. Colored using alcohol inks after printing and curing. The light is a 3mm flicker LED powered by a 9v battery.

However, I'm definitely happy with how it came out.

I've had this salt-shaker for about 20 years (maybe more) and the rubberish plug at the bottom is completely hard and cracked.

So, with onshape, some TPU and a bit of work, I made a replacement that works perfectly (2nd try):

Usually when I’m making a replacement part for something, I’d have several goes at it until I get it perfect.. it’s nice when it works better than the original....

A great example of why I love 3D printing! My tenant in my attached ADU rental said the timer knob in the bathroom broke. Only took me about half hour (and $0.20 plastic) to find the model and print it.

Here’s a handy tip: @chaos_engineer, @Nifty..

If you need to alter your model a little when it just doesn’t fit..

It can be done reliably easy by altering your STL file in height, width and length, (X,Y,Z) in your slicer before making the Gcode, it can save a lot of messing around..

I like to use horizontal expansion / hole expansion settings in the models if they are a little tight. That way the overall dimensions of the model aren't changed.

Christmas prezzie for the Mrs. She loves roses but they always die. So I made her one that won't.

Roughs after printing using elegoo transparents.

Finished. Lots of hand wet/dry sanding to 3000 grit, then a clear resin topcoat to restore the transparency. The petals also had a bit of shimmer mica flake in the topcoat to get a little sheen. After full cure, some rattle can clear enamel.

That's crazy amazing!!!!!

Excellent work!

Did you create the STL or grab it from somewhere?

Your final result SUPER reminds me of when I used to do really basic "glass blowing" (which was me using pliers to squeeze glass I melted with propane torch) ;)
