Waste ink Reservoir

I would like to fit an external waste ink bottle to my brother printer too. I can't find any service manuals for MFC-5895CW

Often the best approach when dealing with waste ink is the slow thinking way and not just going in half-cocked with a drill in your hands, you may end up with more than just waste ink on your face, table, floor etc. etc..

Just looking at that video link provided by @Smile that should be very helpful to you guys that want to fit an external waste tank to your brother printers.

Stop the video at about 5.59 and examine the area around the internal waste tubing and measure that very carefully to determine where to cut the side cover on your printer.

Use a dremel tool and cut out about 5 x 5 cm area, this will give you more than enough space to work with and you can then remove the tubing and bring it out the hole to your new waste ink tank.

The beauty of this video is you now don’t have to take your printer apart to find the waste outlet so the job become extremely easier to do..

I think that perhaps a better way would be to avoid the pumping from the purge tank on the left side that moves the ink to the absorber tank on the right. I have the 150 page PDF service manual for the MFC-4800, about 3 MB. I will send it to you if you want. Or, can it be uploaded to this site?

It is all about printer knowledge.

I am still unknowledgeable about unblocking the clogged heads after trying most methods.

At the moment my 465CN and 240C are good black and yellow printers. lol

On second thought after watching the video again, it appears that the tubes come from the rear of the printer forward to the absorber. Methinks we cut 2 holes in the side, or a slit, unhook the tubes, and they should be long enough to have them fit into an external dump container.

If I can solve the waste ink problem, I would give a nod towards Brother over Epson because of the CISS cartridges.

OTOH If Epson heads are easier to unclog, I would switch.

Brother has better printhead than epson IMHO, regarding the banding problems epson is known for.

I tried the maintenance mode as shown on youtube video, and printer enters maintenance mode, but then the arrows do nothing. I don't want to brick my printer so manual would be nice. You got PM.

BTW When somebody reads such manual for the first time they should see that Brother printer is like a spaceship compared to Volkswagen !

All the adjustments are overwhelming, you can adjust almost anything, from paper sensors to calibrations etc.

I just wonder where to get the brother service tools listed above and some others listed in the service manual?
