It's a simple procedure and I used to do it all the time. Been a while now so I'm rather rusty. Is this the procedure?
Turn power on, and when motion stops, press the cartridge change button.
Cradle moves to the cartridge change position, disconnect power cord.
Now you can move the cartridge cradle back and forth, freely by hand. Do your cleaning, or whatever you wanted access for.
Move cradle manually back to the cartridge change position, plug in power cord, turn power on (if necessary), and cartridge cradle will move back to its rest position.
