I have also had a couple of Canon chips go bad. It is a rare occurrence, but it can happen. When I inserted the cartridge in the printer, the red light came on as normally, but when I closed the lid the printer rejected the cartridge. Only another cartridge with another chip was accepted. Maybe the chip was damaged by a resetter running low on battery, so garbled data was written to the chip?. The damaged chip behaved normally when resat, a short flash, pause and finally a steady light, but it was still rejected by the printer after a new reset.

Well I sure hope that is the case and I didn't think about that. I will try to get a battery today.

Hi yes I have a resetter and am still refilling the original OEM cartridges. I have had the printer about 4 years and they are same cartridges.
I haven't had that much experience with chipped carts, but I've seen posts that chips can eventually go bad. Remember - they are designed for one use. If you've reset them and they don't hold their reset you may have to buy a new OEM cart. You might also check around to see if anyone you know just uses OEM carts without refilling and would give you their empties. Empty OEM carts are also available online, and Precision Colors refills and sells OEM carts as well.

Ok now this is really amazing! Now that I redid the cartridges with the new battery in chip resetter, getting perfect prints! How in the world? I have new cartridges ordered and a new print head, so I guess I will have them on hand for later...so happy

Thanks to PeterBJ and Helen I've learned a new fix for some marginally reset chips. What is this nonsense about not being able to teach an old dog new tricks????

Can anyone tell me where i can buy a new print head? I have searched and searched
Helen, do you still need that head? Or do you want to get a spare? I have three for the PRO-9000, plus a lot of cartridges, Redsetter, etc. My 9000 - a lovely machine - died a few weeks ago and I'm moving on.
Contact me at MadMonty@edutech.us for details. I can ship right away.

@Mad Monty it’s a bad idea to display your Email address on the open forum, you can do it more privately with the PM.. :hu

I agree. But when I looked for PM I couldn't find it - just "Post Reply", "Upload a File," and "More Options..." (which didn't have the PM option). Kindly point me in the right direction?
