When your printer gets a paper jam it is sometimes possible to slowly remove the offending paper by pulling it backwards but only if it is not crumpled up very badly, if it is then caution be advised because you run the risk damaging the one directional paper sensor.

There’s only one sure way to remove a paper jam without damaging this sensor and that is to remove it through the front, it’s also the most difficult and sometime near impossible thing to do without removing the top cover first.

I know its cold comfort now but there it is, because pulling paper backwards from the rear of a printer is a sure recipe for buying a new printer or taking it to a Service Centre.. :(

Here is a download with a combined service manual and parts catalog for the Canon MP610: https://yadi.sk/i/xA6212UjXAE98 . I hope the info in these manuals will help in taking the printer apart to check paper sensors.

Take a look at this post, it is about an Epson printer with a paper feed problem. After removal of a scrap of paper the printer was OK again.

Telv, if in doubt, follow Canon's directions, I guess.

I can't reply to your PM, because the "Reply" button seems to be missing.

Moderators: Hint hint.

@ThrillaMozilla I am just curious but did the missing Reply button reappear or is it still a problem for you ?

I think I know what's wrong, The Hat. I can reply to other messages in my mailbox, but not that one. I'm going to guess that the other person has left the conversation, so no reply is possible. Still, I would expect the reply button to be grayed out instead of missing. But I see now that that's not how the forum works. Not a very big deal, since I could just "start a new conversation" if I thought I was being rude by not replying.
