Don't let printers be an addiction.

Harmless occupation at the moment ;).

Better to purchase more Pro-10s. All said and done. Spend the time looking for ads for used machines.

This will end.
The Epson XP-15000 can be an alternative.
€ 325 here on the web.

The Epson printer close to the PRO-10 was the P400, but with a different ink combination than the XP-15000.

Good article.

Didn't mikling say the XP-15000 was the competitor to Canon Pro 100?

How many Canon killers are there?

You know mentioning these models to North Americans should have a comment that this may never be available to North American markets or check with availability in your region first.
It's giving too many readers wet dreams and then they wake up!

The Pro-100 when it was rebated in NA was a special machine. With the rebate gone the market situation has completely changed, From a refilling standpoint, that is what this board "used to be" the Pro-100 is now GONE except for used markets. The Pro-200 is now priced 4 times ($600) what North Americans were paying on the street (approx $150 for the Pro-100 as low as $34). There is nothing that really replaces the Pro-100 now. A true photo 13" wide quality printer.
The only one that is priced lowest is now the XP15000. The iP8750 does not have the build quality of the Pro-100.
The XP15000 is now clearly the one to get if one desires refilling. It lists for $349, sometimes available from Epson as a refurb for $200 ( Like now https://epson.com/Clearance-Center/...e-format-Printer---Refurbished/p/C11CG43201-N) and provides nice IQ. It also sports a user replaceable waste ink tank that only cost $10USD. It also, and this is important, still retains a polished finely finished guide rail like the Pro-100 and Pro-200. Despite that, the Pro-100/200 is still better built overall to be fair)
So where does the Pro-200 fit in? Well one thing that is significant to certain markets is that the Pro-200 can print 12x12 borderless and some will "kill" for it. Canon knows that. The Epson XP15000 is unable to print that size in borderless format. ( Also has a weird print dialog interface that is different from the driver itself!)

Is the Pro-200 superior to the Pro-100 in the eyes of a refiller. Well now Redsetter has commented ( as of last week) that there will likely NOT be one because of the new chip ( have not been able to crack much less reset!) the writing is on the wall. Unless there is a need for the 12x12 borderless, there is no advantage to acquiring a Pro-200 except for a smaller size ( a disadvantage since it likely contains smaller waste ink pads!) Canon mentions superior color over the Pro-100 and this is true. Except that refillers have the PC42SE inkset introduced ( April 2019) that gave the Pro-100 superior reds and blacks that the Pro-100 OEM inkset could not provide. The Pro-200 now provides that jump as well in late 2020. So for REFILLERS, do not feel disadvantaged in not meeting what the Pro-200 can do. The advancement is all in the inkset primarily and is available to the Pro-100 user if they are refilling. So essentially Pro-100 refillers can get a color upgrade by simply using the SE inkset. The SE also contains much more costly more durable grays inks a particular shortcoming of the earlier inkset.

Nothing will ever replace the Pro-100. This beautiful printer allowed thousands upon thousands of users to enter the world of printing high IQ photos (via a generous rebate from Canon and their aggressive marketing strategy) that they otherwise would never be able to afford. It is now a legend and it was a GIFT to refillers and we need to appreciate what Canon provided.

That's the mean games of the marketing dept's of the printer companies - you get the huge Canon rebates in the U.S., and we get some Epson models earlier in the European market
