Google's Picasa does 80-90% of what I need to do, quickly and intuitively. Easy to email an image from. Biggest complaint is the lack of some traditional right click functions, but they are doable from the menus on top. Limited printing templates.
Irfanview for the quick look and a hundred other features. More single image printing options that I find elsewhere. Been loving IV for many, many years.
digiKam is from Linux, ported to Windows. Can put it on Apple, but more work. Adobe Lightroom, free, and I suspect, on steroids. www.digikam.org . I have found the Windows port sometimes a bit glitchy, but that's not consistent. Many options under each menu selection, easily viewed before and after with the movement of your mouse. Great user group email support.
Occasionally, the GIMP or Corel Photo Paint.
All but the latter, totally free.
