This summer we'll be needing to print a couple thousand various 13" x 19" (mini) posters.

The ink does not have to be archival nor do we need "museum quality" prints.

We just need a VERY economical yet reliable CISS printer to bust these out -- sometimes 50 a day.

Suggestions for a printer?

Canon or Epson?

Thanks!

I don't know your location, or the the number of different "styles" you need to print, but if they are all the same, or just a few variations a printing job shop would be MUCH more economical than trying to print them yourself! Have you checked that out?

AND, do they need to be water/weather resistant?

Thanks for the response.

They don't have to be too weather resistant i suppose... Currently, we spray our inkjet canvas with a protective coat after printing. I guess if we could eliminate that step, that would be preferred.

the style is basically all color photos on glossy paper.

Ya i thought about using some sort of "poster printer" service, but I just couldnt find a cheap one...? Any links? Thanks!

Adoramapix.com for instance.

You will be hard-pressed to get you media cost below $.40 per sheet.

How quickly do you need them printed? what's the '"demand" time.

Thanks

It seems that this company does do 12X18 prints for $5.58

That's a pretty good price.

I would love to get to .40 cents per sheet though -- if we had to do it ourselves.

We don't have much demand time -- it can be a couple weeks out.

An Epson Workforce 1100 would do the trick (it's discontinued, but there are ones on ebay that are pre-modified with CISS systems). You will also need a waste ink tank to fit the printer, otherwise you'll probably fill the internal waste absorbers (diapers) at least once. For a waste tank, resetting instructions, and installation direction, I'd recommend octoinkjet.com

Thanks man those are great leads

I'm in california and it would be cool if I could find someone to sell me the whole kit closer to home. I'm assuming octoinkjet is in the UK.

eitherway i'll have a look - thanks!

Octoinkjet is a fine UK company with great service. I would not hesitate to use them. But there's GOTTA be a cheaper way in CA. What about Mexico?
