Subscript and superscript?

When I was typing an answer I probably hit control instead of shift and saw that my typed text changed to superscript. I intended to write: "United Office is a Lidl brand", but this is what my typo produced, click to enlarge:



Using subscript and superscript would be very handy when writing chemical formulas and equations, so you could write H2O or P=I^2xR properly.

I have tried to reproduce the toggling to superscript, but without luck. What are the commands to toggle subscript and superscript, please?

Hmm if it is like other forums this should work...
[sub]subscript[/sub]
[sup]superscript[/sup]

But it does not

The command you used though of Ctrl L (thats how you did it ) results in superscript in the editor but once you post the forum does not display it. I suspect a plugin to the xenforo software the forum uses is either not installed or something wrong with the install, or features like subscript and superscrip have not been set up.
Subscript is basically tiny text aligned to the bottom of regular text rather than to the top if that makes sense and Superscript aligns to the top (what the Ctrl L command kinda does but does not fully work).

For maths equations you ideally want the what is called LATEX bbcode installed, with that typing something such as....
[LATEX] c=\sqrt{a^2+b^2} [/latex]
would be displayed in the forum as...

(^^^ thats a copy and pasted image before you get excited, the LATEX bbcode does not work either)

The latex command would be very useful for maths like equations... The example i used of...
[LATEX] c=\sqrt{a^2+b^2} [/latex]
without the latex command and only subscript and superscript implemented would mean you have to enter all this (MINUS THE SPACES ive inserted between the bbcodes to show whats typed obviously ) with conventional bbcodes to get the same result as the copy and pasted image....
[ i ]c[ /i ] = \ sqrt[ i ]a[ /i ][ sup ]2[ /sup ]+[ i ]b[ /i ][ sup ]2[ /sup ]

PS: Yes before you ask im one of those people that with a quick bit of thought can work out what bbcodes i need but i am often far to lazy to use them anyway lol

may be a way to add more formatting, bbcodes and options in general to the forum, assuming the version of xenforo the forum uses is compatible with the plugins.

I looked for addons that might add this functionality to the editor, but I couldn't find anything.

There may be a way to add it to the bbcode editor, but that's also been elusive and may take quite a bit of programming.

In the interim, any other workarounds would probably be the best bet.

Yeah i had a look in more detail after i posted the only thing i could find was...

Looks as though it may not be in English so could be a pain to use and is a few years old. Does seem in some regard to have latex and other bbcode functions (See about half way down the page). Other down side is some features only seem to be demo in nature

A shame... I wonder if from reading that vbulletin plugins in general would be compatible with xenforo software or if they require modification???
