The instructions are correct, but I would like to add a few things. First I would change item 5 in the easyFIXS instructions to "While holding down the Power button, press and release the Stop button 5 times". I would also add that it is important that the printer is connected via USB and that no other printers must be connected to the computer. If the printer has been used with wireless connection and not USB then a USB driver must be installed first.

Some versions of the instructions tell to release the stop and power button simultaneously. You cannot do that, one will always be released before the other even if the difference is only milliseconds. If the power button is released first then only four presses of the release button will be detected. I think this could be the reason for the confusion about if the release button should be pressed four, five or six times.

That would be a super clear clarification. I guess there are people that think pressing a button 5 times without releasing the button in between presses does something.

You have a very dark view of people. No wonder @The Hat likes you. Me too.

It looks like you are right. The EEPROM printouts are likely not fakes. Also the service manual also has a couple of pages from the parts catalog. see p17/18. The absorbers are pos. 14 and 15.

I downloaded the service tool v4718, even if it was more than 16MB and service tools are normally less than 1 MB. The download is a .rar archive which after unpacking contains this:

That Start.exe looks highly suspect to me even if it was accepted by both AVG and MBAM. I think I will test the program, but not on my main computer,

Maybe we are slowly making progress re these newer service tools and printers? We have actually learned a lot since the start of this thread. :)
What's about the program test ? Does it work fine for Mg3650 ?

The easyfix link mentions MG3500 series printers as compatible, not MG3600 series printers. The use of a non compatible service tool can cause loss of access to service mode. Maybe it is better to buy a version 5204 that claims to be compatible with the MG3600 series printers? It is only $4 here.
