CANON PIXMA IP4700 PRINTER.

I have been using Canon's 220/221 ink to do all my personal and commercial photo prints but now, thinking of cheaper but quality alternatives to the ink (cost $85 canadian) per set canon inks. I was thinking of CISS but read on this forum its not the best for canon printers. Am open to CISS, REFILL etc. I print only photos with this printer (5x7 and 8X10) only. There are weeks I print nothing and there are days I print over 100 pictures. Right now, I have 500 8x10 to print and need a cheaper alternative to the gauging high OEM ink.
I also managed to covert my Canadian Printer to a European model to enable CD PRINTING (instead of the lightscribe i have used for years). That means, I will also use the same PIXMA IP4700 for direct disk printing.

I have other brand printers for large format print-up to 33inches.

Please advice me on cheaper but quality options. Any suggestion where i could buy the refill/ciss system?
Thanks
I have used a CISS on my iP4700 for quite some time but had to remove it because of the lack of work I was getting for it.
Of all the Canon printers that I converted to CISS it was the most troublesome of the lot (5 in total).

Canon altered the design of the 4700 to make it hard to use a CISS on it but with constant care I was able to keep mine going.
Now I am using OEM cartridges in my 4700 and refilling them with the same Image Specialists inks
that I used in my CISS system and a resetter.

A CISS work well on this printer if and only if you have enough daily work for it and if left idle it is a bitch to get running again properly.
Since switching to refilling my cartridges I have had not a single problem with the 4700 whatsoever
and would strongly recommend the use of refilling rather than using a CISS system.

Even with large volume work it is easier to just replace the cartridge and carry on with little or no interruptions or time wasting.
A CISS is faster when its working properly than refilling your cartridges say 70/30 %
but in terms of ease of use and peace of mind the refilled cartridges win hands down no question.

So if you wish to go down the route of huge and I mean huge savings then refill your OEM cartridges
with good quality inks arm yourself with a resetter and the rest will be history.
Lots of Happy Printing..

Canon TS3150
Hi, I've just joined this morning and am glad I did after browsing some of your posts.
Have recently bought a Canon TS3150 which is working very well for my needs.
Have ventured into Cartridge Refilling and would appreciate some basic advice please:
I intend just using PG545XL carts for this, I've got hold of two empty ones via eBay, Have
already refilled the original PG545 which came with the printer, this works fine.
Am awaiting delivery of the two carts (one has been refilled once , the other is empty but
never refilled). Am wondering how to go about the process, should I refill both carts now,
or wait until the existing one has run out (am wondering about the "drying out" process
of the sponges etc. if the "new" carts are left dry).
Many thanks.
