The ink base is a mix of water and glycoles with different ratios in Epson and Canon inks, there is one relevant physical property which is important - the amount of energy to heat and boil the ink and expel the ink drops - thermal/bubble printing method - and there are other parameters like viscosity and surface tension which need to stay in correct ratios by the ink components , you can look them up in the MSDS - Material Data Safety Sheets - .
That makes sense, thanks for the explanation :)

What about the longevity of the 106 inks compared to the 114?

The Epson 106 and 114 inks are pretty much equivalent, I and @maximilian59 did quite some testing with these inks about a year ago when the ET-8550 got onto the market, they are the same from a user perspective, the inkset has some different colors.

And there is another benefit - the 106 inks are at about 9€ per bottle, the 114 inks at 12€, you just may need the 114 gray.

Hi Guys, quick question,

When I print with my pro 10, it leaves a lot of ink on the side like in the photo. The nozzle check is ok, I also tried to clean the printer head resting pad. but still the same thing.

This is the same for Octoink cartridges and Canon brand-new OEM cartridges.

The strange thing is that there is no mark on the paper at all, only on the side. when I print on A3 the same thing happens after the paper.

Any idea?

The most likely cause is paper curl, try rolling your paper in the opposite direction and try again..

P.S. Using those compatible carts is not a good way to print, only OEM carts are recommended for high quality prints..

those are OEM carts refilled by Octoinkjet and i have the same problem canon OEM. It does that for all papers so I dont think is paper curling but i can try to clean up the system.

could it be a problem with the print head gaskets not sealed properly?

It seems you print borderless.
I recently had to clean the ink absorbers of the plate (by spraying distilled water and absorbing with paper towels).
There is a printer setting to limit the overspray area, set it to the left to limit ink spell.

I don’t print borderless that’s why I am surprised I only print “fine art” media with the 30mm border

Do you also get that out of your Pro-10?

The border is not mandatory on the sides, in fact it is only to insure stable paper transport at the beginning and the end.

PS: you can check the correct functioning of the purge system by spraying distilled water on the pads (with a long needle when the printhead is in the middle position).
After restarting the printer the cups should be dry. Do this a few times and the bottom of the printhead and the wipers are clean too.
Standard maintenance IMO.
