... good OEM bottled inks are (becoming) available probably eating some of the refill market, the refill market will continue compete with very low prices - with questionable properties of the inks - fading persistence - gloss etc , and refill of higher end printers will be further inhibited by the manufacturers with more sophisticated chip coding/protection schemes.

Exceptions aside and including trial and error I paid on average 15 ct/ml for good quality pigment ink, that's about what the OEM bottles cost.
No objection.

Refill will become a niche market (as @mikling prepared for).

Interesting, there will be ink tank Maxify's too (GX),
I reckon I’ll order the complete ink set when they become available on the Canon website, GI-56, BK GI-56 C, GI-56 M, GI-56 Y.

This new Maxify is the real deal, it even comes with replaceable waste ink cartridge.. the GX 7050, is a bit more pricier than the GX6050 @€700 and the lesser one is only €550..

"Only" €550 ? .. You can purchase three or four MB5150 for that money. At the pace I print nowadays, even if I don't bother to clean the waste ink pads, I won't live enough to see three Maxifys reaching full.
Now, printhead failure is another story..:D

I ordered a 135ml Cyan bottle, arrives Monday.
The Maxify is more picky on ink as I thought.

PS: I still have a small business and print 5-10K pages a year

This link shows only dye inks ?..
So does this new GX Maxify printer only using dye inks.. ?:hu
The Canon site confirms GI-56 bottles contain pigment ink.
Maybe a mistake of 123ink, they say it is original Canon.
Next week test "aux frais de la princesse" ;).

Down here they are selling the Pixma mega tank range of printers using bottle inks. If they made one for A3 paper it might be worth a look for me to replace my pro9500 which can only print B&W because of the faulty head. So far I can't find any A3 printers with refillable ink tanks.

The new Epson ET-8550 is an A3+ ink tank printer - the market phase in may vary from country/business region to business region but it typically starts in Japan and the Far East countries

Product suddenly unavailable, no delivery date known.
Maybe Canon is reading this forum ...
