3dogs,

About ARCs at least when it comes to Canon printers, I am running them on OEM PGI-9 carts for the PRO9500MKII series. The start out as full, they will count down the ink usage and reset by either removing and reinserting the cart back in, by turnt the printer OFF and then back on. Or really, by ANY powere interruption to the chip.
With a Canon of course you must be careful of not running a head dry.
Ok thanks I get that. beats me then why there is no ARC for the 3880. Anyway I have a spare set of Cone carts and I plan to drill them as per your latest so I dont have to pull them out all the time.

Cheers

Andrew

I have to actually check to see what I did with my OEM chips on the two sets I am currently using.
Heres a simple little tip for you.

When you go to put the OEM chips back onto the cartridges, just start by putting any chip on any cartridge and close the lid
then the printer will identify the chip for you with the message that you have two of the same particular chips on board.

Theres nothing like a little bit of help when it comes to these pesky tiny chips,
after you identify which chip is which put it on the right cartridge and then reset it, job done..:)

If you have a reliable power source, you'll find that ARC can work very very well on the PGI-9 and is actually the epitome of convenience and you never have to deal with a resetter ever. All you do is remove the tank top off the ink and pop back in and the chip reads full again. Two complete sets of ARCs will prove to even more convenient and all that needs to be done is just remove tanks and always replace with filled carts and never need the step of resetting ever. So you have the convenience of "like" chipless cartridges with the added benefit of ink monitoring. This proves to be better than a full resetter actually. Also you will find that the printer wastes less ink with the ARC as there will be fewer powerup priming cycles. Here is one instance where the ARC solution can actually be superior.... kind of goes against normal thinking.
