i have a PRO-100 that i use infrequently, probably too in frequently. i leave it on so it will do it's periodic cleanings.
i tried using it the other day and the BLACK was coming out with a bluish tint. i ran a nozzle check and the BK was missing. did a cleaning and it was then fine. printed another and the BK looked better but still not right. ran another nozzle check and the BK was missing again. i determined that the BK cart was clogged/defective.
i ordered a new canon CLI-42 BK for $18. now this is the first ink cart i have purchased in 15 years, $18 was a bit of a sticker shock.
then i remembered that the CLI-42's are the same physical form as the old CLI-8's from back in my MP830 days. i happened to have one CLI8-BK still left so i swapped the chip from the CLI-42 onto the CLI-8, did a reset and am now back printing.
just passing this on in case someone else has this issue
the CLI-8 cart is at least 12 years old and is working fine after the chip swap/reset.
last count, now up to 1,909 ink cart refills over 15 years
