Hi,

Thanks for your replies.

I believe that the striping will rectify over a few cleaning cycles as suggested.

Colours appear washed out as i have had some condensation build up in the CISS.

The PC im primarily printing from is using Vista 32bit, but i will have a look at the setting as you have suggested.

Im running the deep cleaning cycles now.

I had been doing the nozzle check and cleaning from the printer menu, and completely forgot about the grid at the top! (embarrassed)

Yes, i was out of ink and am due for some new bulk Ink. (any recommendations)

Hopefully i havent burnt out my current head! (i do have a spare IP4000 for spare parts!)

Dont run any cleaning cycles till you have enough ink in your system again.
You can put some ink into the black bottle from the other black you have or just mix a bit of cyan and magenta and use that.

Youll also have to prime the empty black bottle to get sufficient ink back up to your cartridge again before continuing.
I still think your print head wont recover sufficiently enough to allow you to have proper black print again
also you colours are not looking to good either.

The reason that Word wouldnt print for you is because you had no ink in your PGBK cartridge at all
And the other documents and web pages worked ok because they were only using the other three colours.

If you let us know your location then it would be far easier to recommend a good ink supplier to you.. :)

You couldnt go wrong using Rihac inks their one of the best.. :)
Thanks, Im about to order but just realised that the Rihac Inks are only dye based and they do not have a pigment base ink for the 3E ink.

Given that my MP780 (same as IP4000) print head accommodates both dye and pigmented inks, wont it be a problem?

You can go ahead and order you inks from Rihac, besides they will not sell you ink that can harm your printer.
When using a CISS on a Canon it is imperative that you never use pigment ink for the 3eBK black.

Pigment ink is a complete no no in these CISS Units and should never be used whatsoever and
if any ink supplier says any different then GO ELSE WHERE for your ink because telling porkies is no way to treat any customer.

You have being using dye ink all a long in your CISS without knowing it (Ever since you first bought it)
and it hasnt caused you any problems so far so its all right to continue using it ok.. :)

Are the word documents making it to the print queue? That is, if you right click on the printer icon in the notification tray and choose Open printers, do you see the print job in the queue?
