Hi folks.

Canon MG6250 wirelessly connected to Windows 8.1 desktop PC.

System has been running fine for well over a year. But for the last few days all print jobs are slowed down by a ridiculous amount. Printer seems to make one pass, then long pause, then another pass, and so on. This happens on every print job.

I haven't made any configuration changes, although there will have been some Microsoft updates.

Any suggestions as to where to look for the problem?

Is it normal speed when photocopying? How about if you print via USB? If both are OK then try changing the wifi channel on your router. It's possible that a neighbour's wifi is interfering with yours, slowing it down. A scanning app on your phone would help. Finally, check for anything slowing your PC down. I'm a Linux man so can't help much with Windows.

I would suggest trying to connect to the printer by USB cable to eliminate a bunch of factors affecting the print speed.
I would also suggest trying to print some document that's internal to the printer, so that can eliminate almost all the affecting factors: a self-diagnose test, nozzle check, etc.
If printing a self-test page is normal, things go fast, then your printer are ok and the problem should lay elsewhere at the computer, cable, or network (if connect via wifi).

Thanks guys. It appears that after a very long period of faultless performance the wireless connection from the PC is now failing intermittently.

I'll have to get that sorted out first.

Also worth defragging your hard drive as usually the print spooler needs a fair amount of hard drive space in a contigious chunk or it starts to fall over.

We recently hit problems with Anti-virus although not with printing so assume nothing and try disabling app's like AV, etc... to see if that has any effect.
