Dear all,

I bought printer CANON PRO-10 for printing postcards. For printing I'm using templated paper (4 x 6 inches) which I put in the printer from the back side. However, 30 % of the postcards come out only half or less printed (see pics attached). Would anyone know what is the reason for this malprinting?

Thanks a lot.

See pp. 102-107 of this PDF of the Pro-10 User Manual.

You must use the Rear Tray, not the Manual feeder that is behind the rear tray (pp 108-110 - note the different location and appearance). Confusing terminology, no?

The 4x6 paper must be loaded print side up, portrait orientation only, and centered in the Rear Tray. Slide the Paper Guides up against the edges of the paper but not too snug or the paper may not move into the printer.

Thanks a lot for your reply and clear instructions Stratman. However, I'm doing exactly the same steps as you just described, using Rear Tray, portrait orientation ec....
Any other idea how to prevent malprinting?
You think it has to do anything with the drivers or any other software?

Look at page 116 for more details...

Thanks The Hat for your contribution, however, I think this is not the reason as only 30 % of postcards are malprinted. And I also checked in the book and printer prints borderless.

Good point. I took another look at the manual and it appears you can print borderless 4x6 but there are parameters and stipulations. You need a law degree to decipher these things.

Page 121 of the manual from my link:

On page 122, if you are not using Borderless settings then here may be unprinted borders.

However, this does not appear to explain OP's issues.

Were both images in you picture printed Portrait Orientation?

What do you mean by "templated paper (4 x 6 inches)"?

I put in the printer from the back side
There is no front feed for the printer. Just to be sure, you are sure you mean Rear Tray and NOT the Manual Feed Tray found further back of the printer.

What software are you using to make you prints?

there seems to be some irregular effect - the width of the unprinted area varies - not all prints are affected. How is the printer connected - with a longer USB cable - replace that cable with a shorter one, use a different USB port on the computer , and/or try to test the same print job on another computer/notebook available in the family or else - with a shorter USB cable

Could the printer driver have become corrupted or damaged? Years ago (and maybe still?) IT supporters asked this question if they didn't know the answer to a problem: "Have you tried un-installing and re-installing it?" Some times this trick actually works.
