Amount of aluminum in the soil is the key regulator of color. Adding aluminum sulfate, along with maintaining an acidic soil pH, will promote blue color of the flowers. Adding lime to raise pH to alkaline levels plus decreasing aluminum in the soil by adding lime will promote red color.I wondered if the soil pH varied very much around the plant, but neither acid nor base could make the flowers change colour.
The following video offers a similar hypothesis as yours:In stead I think the colour depends on the development of the flowers, the red flowers on the left face toward south and so has got more sunshine than the blue flowers on the right facing north.
The only digital camera I have is on my Kindle. I loathe using it except under exceptional circumstances, which I anticipate none occurring anytime soon.Come on @stratman post a Photo or two...
These are indeed exceptional circumstances..The only digital camera I have is on my Kindle. I loathe using it except under exceptional circumstances,
How about a photo from you @mortificatio....It was the image of a tree with branches circled by colored ink that I was referring to, and yes, it did look very turkey like. That's my story and I'm stikin 2 it.
