I wondered if the soil pH varied very much around the plant, but neither acid nor base could make the flowers change colour.
Amount of aluminum in the soil is the key regulator of color. Adding aluminum sulfate, along with maintaining an acidic soil pH, will promote blue color of the flowers. Adding lime to raise pH to alkaline levels plus decreasing aluminum in the soil by adding lime will promote red color.

Interestingly, plants near concrete, such as a sidewalk or home foundation, will be exposed to more lime leached from the concrete thereby promoting alkaline pH and redder flower color.

Temperature is used by commercial growers to promote color forcing. Too high ambient temperatures can cause decreased intensity of colors among other undesirable effects.

In stead I think the colour depends on the development of the flowers, the red flowers on the left face toward south and so has got more sunshine than the blue flowers on the right facing north.
The following video offers a similar hypothesis as yours:

If this keeps up I’ll have to insist that Rob includes a Section for Gardening lovers...:ya
These Bluebells have been blue for 20 years and nothing in a 10 sq. metre area has changed, that’s what surprised me about this year’s new colour, they are under a White Magnolia tree.

I also have albino whitebells in another part of the garden, and like the blue they were purchases separately originally as white bulbs...

P.S. My hydrangeas are blue, 2 Kilos of nails helps keeps them that way...
Come on @stratman post a Photo or two...:D

The only digital camera I have is on my Kindle. I loathe using it except under exceptional circumstances, which I anticipate none occurring anytime soon.

These are indeed exceptional circumstances.. :D
P.S. We’ll even except a photo from your film camera.. :hugs
It was the image of a tree with branches circled by colored ink that I was referring to, and yes, it did look very turkey like. That's my story and I'm stikin 2 it.
How about a photo from you @mortificatio....:hu
We’ll also except turkeys.....
