I remember when we travelled through Co Wicklow, thinking what a beautiful county it is…. Why don't you take and submit some pics for us @The Hat? We're going into the pretty of the year over here now.

But even if I was, :rant Rob would have my guts for garters if you picked me for the POW..:smack

Well, you could win the way I did -- the (Only) Picture of the Week. ;)

By the way, that's from Denmark, not St. Louis.

.........By the way, that's from Denmark, not St. Louis.

Dare I ask from where? Maybe from the South/West part of Jutland, close to the Danish/German border?

The landscape in this part of the country is similar what is found in the Netherlands. Here is a picture from Google Earth. I hope it is OK posting that image. As I am not the photographer, this is not an entry to the "POW".

Maybe the landscape in your photo looks like this in daylight:

Here is my contribution to the "POW" contest. It is a picture of a Hortensia shot last summer when visiting family. Some flowers contain dyes that are similar to litmus and behave like litmus paper. If you for instance stir a blue Campanula on top of an anthill it soon gets red spots from the ants spraying it with formic acid. I wondered if the soil pH varied very much around the plant, but neither acid nor base could make the flowers change colour.

In stead I think the colour depends on the development of the flowers, the red flowers on the left face toward south and so has got more sunshine than the blue flowers on the right facing north.

A lovely hydrangea bush @PeterBJ !

Maybe the dual colors is from a neighborhood dog that raises his leg to only one side of the plant. :D

@PeterBJ, the way I change my Hydrangeas to blue is to put a kilo of nails around the stems and chase the dog away, his contribution doesn’t help at all.;)

I know it wasn’t St Louis not does Wyoming has a beach or Wicklow have desert, but you certainly won with the best photo of the week, that's what counts..:D

Yes, Mr. Hat, rubbing it in, of course.

PeterBJ, you probably know that a lot of colored foods are acid-base indicators. Red cabbage does that, of course, and you can see the effect when you are washing dishes. As I recall, cranberry (tranebær) juice does that. I think I have also seen it in strongly colored fruit juices.
