The Epson R3000 got a successor Surecolor P600, but the R3000 should still be available at various dealers.

I would love to know how you could run a CISS on pigment inks in this printer with without running into trouble with partial ink settlement at the bottom of the reservoirs, could you explain…?

Compliments of Alibaba.com.

Even the use of these extra large cartridges would still require some agitation..

I remember reviewers telling that this whopper of 17kg is shaking the pigment carts AND the desktop every once a while..
So if you do not refill the stationary carts (which is a kind of in built ciss) an external 3rd party ciss has to be good designed and made.. concerning ink flow and resetting the levels..

EDIT: regarding ciss on the 9180:

HP is bubble jet printer, bad inkflow results in burned nozzles. BTW the print heads are single units for each color...

Two comparisons, 2007 and 2011

I have over 500 Clients in my mailing list and just two of them used "HP" photo printer for their artwork and printing photos and illustration including the B9180.
It is a rather reliable printer, they used only original inks and had to replace the print heads after some time OR if a very bad paper jam happend when drawing more then one sheet of paper the head ran against the folded up paper and broke two printheads.

Since the printhead itself is a user serviceable part (by design) its easy to do
but in comparison with a R3000 vs B9180 the r3000 has even smaller droplets 2µl the hp has 5µl

Old thread - but I'm searching for the few users of a HP B9180 resp B8850 ...

... because last week I could not resist and got myself a b8850, like new, for a ridiculous price, less than one new OEM cartridge

Now I'm trying to master this big heavy and capricious machine, which seems to be built like a shrinked "designjet Z" LFP model, with some pro's and con's...

Anybody out there who knows it in detail?
And tried refilling, OEM or refillables?
The OEM cart is vivera nr 38 (27ml), seems to be the same ink as in cart nr 70 (130ml) and nr 772 (300ml) for the designjets, all are expensive.

Third party inks are rare, I found one german supplier and inkjetcarts, no PC no octoink...?!
