I was an offset pressman for years.
In my country, most people related to offset printing do not want to have anything to do with small inkjet. They despise small inkjet.

Nice to see one who find small inkjet useful compared to offset printing :thumbsup

Mikling believes that waiting to refill when the cartridge is marked Empty by the printer creates a condition where ink ultimately fails to flow properly through the sponge. This may then lead to nozzle burnouts.
This is almost certainly due to air in the sponge interfering with ink flow. Once a problem develops, you may get ink baked into the head, which causes an irreversible clog. The problem can be prevented by refilling early, as Mikling suggests, thereby not allowing air into the sponge, or by vacuum filling (i.e., Freedom filling).

I don't understand the purpose of such a large sponge. We ran no name carts for 3 years on our 9000's with no problems and their sponge area was at least 2/3 smaller than the OEM carts.

This is a commercial printing business, I print a couple of thousand sheets a week on average using 8 Canon Pro-100 printers. Check out our website: www.botanicalpaperworks.com
So would running them that bit slower make that much difference to you, if it would save you time later ?

Your other alternative would be to try and see if you could lease the MACH 8 from HP, the down side is you wouldn’t be able to use 3rd party inks.

Going back, the HP OfficeJet Pro might not feed your paper that great but could you not change your Media type to run on this machine especially the fact it can use Duplex and CISS with pigment ink..

Try and explain that slower is faster to your boss, LOL! The Mach 8 has nothing to do with HP, it uses a Memjet print engine. They sell their ink in large size containers and I believe they are made to be refilled by the user. The pigment ink doesn't look quite as nice on our paper either, the dyebase seems to have more pizzazz. Remember, I have 3 OfficeJet Pro's here.

I was under the impression that the MACH 8 was badged as just another HP, obviously I was wrong sorry, nor was I aware you already had the OfficeJet pro, (Ice to Eskimos) but at least we can both agree that Dye prints are better to look at on your own paper stock.. :)
