That's not the case with this machine.

I happened to use something very similar to that many moons ago, (A2 size), they do give a perfect finish to most surfaces, but stink to high heavens and you must be careful of the UV lamp, the inkjet GO application gives a good enough finish for me, costs a darn slight less and is safer too...;)

All of them! LOL
A guy from Argentina wants to print photo books using dye ink printers and then wants to overcoat the pages with instrument on my original video link. Nothing to do with any other coaters you guys brought up. The unit shown is a clearly a table model.

Our frivolous comments are probably because this exceeds the expertise of most of us on this forum. Unless of course, somebody speaks up to the contrary.

My own observations and I know nothing, is based on the one-minute promotional video. That this is NOT an industrial strength machine. How many pages or sheets per week does the prospective user expect to process. If a limited number or occasional use it may be OK.

The speed of 1,000 sheets per hour alluded to is probably grossly overstated, given that it would have to coat and cure a 13 x 19 sheet in 3-4 seconds to achieve that output. Certainly possible, but probably not with the simplistic hand fed machine displayed in the video.

What are the specs on the UV curing mechanism and how do you control the evenness and thickness of the coating prior to curing?

What type of control does the operator have over the quality of UV coating and curing?

Not trying to be a "Dick", but it looks suspiciously like the toaster in the breakfast room of the budget level hotel I stayed at during my drive back to Ottawa end of last week. It ran one tenth of the speed and had a heater instead of UV curing unit. You fed in cut bread slices and eventually toast came out. Not kidding :(

Our frivolous comments
Hold on a minute, Roy. OP's initial post gave way to nothing to be so serious about. Besides, my link to the $215K machine demonstrated absurdity, not frivolity. :idunno

False equivalency!

My reply was linked to Jose's OP of a simple table-top UV roller coater style machine.

Your link was to an industrial strength UV 3D spot coater. Chalk and cheese. Absurdity or frivolity is in the eye of the beholder.

Still trying to reconcile the topic of discussion in this thread. If I keep trying will stumble across it.

WOW! I did not think this was going to create such an uproar.
I was given this video link so I could see a product that a person in Argentina where apparently it is very difficult if not impossible for a common person to buy a pigment ink photo printer. This would be a tool this person could possibly use to treat his dye ink printer photo book pages.
Yes he would be producing photo books for sale.
How many? Who knows.
Would this machine suffice?
Apparently because he is going to purchase one.
He was merely asking through my PRINTING Video Channel to see what opinion was .
I decided to share it with you guys but I guess it is obviously not something that appeals to everyone.
I don't think it would have to be any more sophisticated that your commercial bread toaster annalogy.
Apply the resin evenly and cure it.
Done.
