I purchase my Epson Pro 3880 in May 2015.

Since that purchase date there are the following 4 updates available, all from this year:
FileType_Zip.gif
Epson Print Layout (1.31)
38.60 MBs - 27/09/2016 direct download
FileType_Exe.gif
Epson Print Layout (1.30)
38.78 MBs - 23/03/2016 direct download
FileType_Exe.gif
EPSON Copy Factory (4.70)

60.08 MBs - 14/03/2016 direct download
FileType_Exe.gif
EPSON Copy Factory Update (4.70)
InfoIcon16.gif

59.92 MBs - 14/03/2016

and in addition there also is a new Firmware: P030D08.

What is your advise? Should I download and install these 4 updates and the new Firmware?
Thank trouw for your advise!

avoid downloading any new firmware. as it will disable the printer from using 3rd party ink cartridges and ink refill.

Interesting!

I purchased my 3880 in March 2015 in Ottawa brand new from a certified Epson Dealer.
The installed firmware is P030D8-1.03.800E
At least that is what the nozzle check and Status printout says.

Not sure how the small difference relates to Harry's version. Could be regional differences.

I am leaving well enough alone. Given my lack of expertise in things mechanical - If it ain't broke anything I do to improve things WILL break it. :(

@Harry Briels
Thank you for making me aware of "epson print layout"!
Seems to be a very good software to keep the printer setting simple and effective.
Applying custom ICC's is very easy, even a softproof comes up.
And to my surprise it recognizes my old R800 and R285.. seems to work fine with these too..

PS: for the firmware I agree with taksmon ... for refillers the oldest working firmware is the best!

After installing the "Epson Print Layout" there was an option for ABW missing.
Therefor I had to update the driver for my 3880 from version 6.60 to 6.63

Now I'm worrying if the updated driver could cause any trouble with resetting ??
I know that firmware can do this.. but what about the driver..?
Who has updated the driver to 6.63 for his 3880 and can confirm that resetting is not affected in any way?

I haven't started my 3880 yet and can go back to driver 6.60 (2009) - but then I wouldn't have the ABW in "print layout"..
..which is very helpful because you get a preview of the B&W tone of your photo to print, not only the sample of the driver menu..

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. However, if you feel incline to do so, load it on a separate computer and test to see the affects.

As I said, it is installled, but I haven't turned on the printer yet.
I can not "test" the last step, it will either affect the cart chips or not..

So this is a question for actual 3880 refilllers who have updated the driver.
@jtoolman ..what do you think about driver updates?

PS: certainly there is no guarantee, what works fine on one system may fail on another.. But after the latest cartridge blocking by HP I become more anxious

All of them! LOL
I have not updated firm ear on any of my printers. I also reset and refill my OEM T58 carts and do not use refillables any longer.
So I can not answer specifically about pro 3880.
