What are those grommets made out off? Are they a silicone or rubber like substance? Looking at the picture by @PeterBJ a page back if they are a rubber like material id be tempted (though not for faint of heart) to go all ghetto and have a go at making my own out of something like an old rubber car mat, silicone sheets, inner tube from tyre etc Though obviously it would depend on their physical size as to if being creative with a scalpel would be possible (too small and i doubt you could do it).

I have tried cleaning print heads for the Canon printer generations represented by i-965, iP4000, iP5200 and ip3600 or the cartridge generations BCI-3e/6. PGI-5/CLI-8 and PGI-x20/CLI-x21. I have only noticed two different grommet types. I don't know when Canon changed the grommet design.

I suspect even in the USA that varies depending on where you live or even if you have a thrift shop locally. The chances (at least where i live in the UK) of finding a used Canon printer of any half recent (last 5 years) vintage in what us in the UK call a "Second-hand" store are pretty slim.
