My New Epson Stylus Photo 1500w (artisan 1430) !!!

Today my new Epson 1500W arrived at home. I am going do some tests with different dye inks to see how the fade resistance will be. I did some test prints to create Colormunki profiles using my 4-in-1 miniature patch method.

It’s very simple; you just keep adding extensions to your print den till the divorce papers arrive..

Hi Guys,

My Epson R3000 has been sold, als I am already a very good K3 printer (Epson Pro 3880), so this has been replaced by a dye Epson 1500W printer.

Many thanks to Costadinos, who was willing to supply me with a set of the OCP Claria compatible refill ink for testing. For small glossy prints, dye ink is still nicer to me compared to pigment ink. For some give-away pictures for friends and so I am going to use this dye ink printer.

Now I am going to repeat Costadinos test of Claria compatible dye inks and hope to include the new Inkowl fade-resistant Claria compatible dye ink : I hope this is true (well, as good as the original Claria compatible ink).

Oops...I need to change my printer descriptions to include this new printer and to erase the R3000 line .

I've recently seen another manufacturer claiming the same longevity as OEM claria if you are interested:

Had it been available last year I would have included that in the test as well...
(There's also the Lyson Fotonic inkset, claiming the same, but at that price point we might as well use OEM).

To be honest, I doubt either of these even comes close to the OEM.
Claria even outperforms Canon's dye inks by a long margin, and definitely comes close to traditional RA4 archival media.

I just installed the waste ink tank from octoinkjet.co.uk, unfortunately the waste ink tubing is a bit short, leaving only 10 cm from the printer....

I contacted Martin to have some some extension or a longer version of the tubing.

Very good choice, Pharmacist. I too think that dye ink looks better on glossy photo paper. I only use pigment ink for photos that are exposed on a wall.

OK Guys,

Yesterday I made a set of test prints on Netbit Glossy (High Gloss) paper and Epson Premium Semigloss (Satin/Pearl) paper using the Original Epson Claria ink with dedicated Colormunki produced profiles.

This evening I refilled my first set of refillables with OCP K3 Vivid pigment (with photo black) and after producing the corresponding profiles on Netbit Glossy and Epson Premium Semigloss papers, I too printed a set of the same test picture.

Each ink set is printed twice on the same type of paper: one to be kept safely away in the dark boxed and the other to be exposed to sun light.

Now I am going to do the same with the inks I get from Costadinos (OCP Claria compatble dye refill ink) and the ones from Inkowl, which is supposedly pretty fade resistant, but I expect them to arrive next week.

Hi pharmacist,
I too will look forwards to your results it will be interesting to see how the different inks perform on Epson Semi gloss paper, I wonder if you could also print a set on the Sihl cheap glossy paper from Lidl or Aldi. (Just for comparison).

Suggestion, could you keep all of the current test prints in the dark till you get the new inks so the whole lot of photos can get exactly the same amount of exposure..
