Well, unless our magentas are very different (what magenta did you use btw, Inktec?), your left swab should be equivalent to my orange. It does look a bit more yellow though.
For the second I have no clue what's going on. What do you get with an 1:1 mixture of magenta/yellow?

I'll try again later and let you know. This time I'll mix up a little bit more than a drop, just to be more accurate.

The fact that pharmacist's mixture of red needs only 1/6 or 1/5 of yellow might indicate that his magenta is more on the red side .. so was my first impression of the nozzle checks
While your ratio of 1part M + 1part Y for mixing red would be reflecting the color circle (see posting #3) ... your magenta might be more magenta..

Well, it is actual OCP K3 Vivid ink (including Vivid Magenta). I think using larger amounts, would be more accurate. Maybe mixing 1 gram of magenta + 3 gram of yellow on a microgram scale. I think putting too much ink on the paper will yield a stain that is too dark, so swiping over a piece of photo paper is the more accurate way to review the mixed color appropriately with a cotton stick (pressing the excess ink against te bottle to prevent over saturation).

I tried it again, more or less with the same results. It pretty much takes 1+1, or at most 1+2 parts to create the most similar hue. 1+4 comes out much different.
The previous test was on luster photo paper.
But, the inks I used were Inktec, as I don't have any more OCP magenta and yellow to try. And most of the OCP inks I used so far were not color matched to the originals anyway, so that may be the issue, as Inktec inks are.
I wish I had the OEM cartridges to try and draw some Epson ink and compare that, but I can't seem to find them either.

It would be interesting to try the same with OEM Ultrachrome inks, if you have some empty cartridges lying around with some ink left in them...

Pharmacist, is there a reason why you are making such efforts to mix your own red and orange? There is probably an ink set for the r2000 from OCP or other welll known 3rd party brands...

Hi Martin,

I have a lot of ink in stock and I don't want to spill ink. OCP Yellow is a bit stronger compared to Inktec yellow. I think this is the reason why I need more of magenta to obtain a red color. Inktec yellow is way weaker in hue and tone. When the cartridges will arrive I will experiment with mixing ink with a bit of the ink from the original cartridges to compare with. I have so much magenta in stock, that I don't want to waste and mixing into red and orange is way to consume these inks.

Yesterday the printer executed a cleaning cycle when I started to print and today too....hmmm and ink levels have been dropped 10%, just of the cleaning alone, why ? Is it because I have chosen another paper type, which doesn't make sense as both blacks are installed. I hope my waste ink potty will arrive soon. At this level the ink cushion will be fully saturated within 2 weeks.

It probable went through a priming cycle, not a cleaning cycle. I had this happen all the time with a CISS installed, not only when the reset switch was pressed.
I imagined it was due to the printer not recognizing the chips momentarily for some reason and "thinking" that a cartridge was replaced.

@pharmacist when you have your Potty fitted you’ll be able to see the difference between all the cleaning and priming cycles at a glance, neat.. :)

At Least through the USA distributor - Rjetteck, OCP only the ink set for the r800 / r1800
will has Red and Blue. They do not have the Orange required by the R1900 and R2000.
I have the OCP ink set which I can use on my R1900s but I had to replace the Orange with Image Specialists Orange as OCP does not seem to have it. Maybe by special order which would be out of the question in my case.
