If I remember correctly, it won't be the first time that your hat gets nice splashes of magenta. :p

Have you noticed magenta ink pools or stains along the carriage path, under the printhead ?.

Yes got exactly the same issue when I over filled the cart the last time, so this magenta cart has been problematic going back some time.. Maybe some carts just don’t like being refilled..
P.S. I’ll have a few nice splashes of red on The Hat to start off the new year..:celebrate

Could be that Maxify carts don't like GI-56 OEM ink ?..:D

Maybe, there is a warning on the bottles you shouldn't mix with other inks ...;)
No issues until now.

I eventually found a place that sells print heads for the Maxify, but after I managed to buy the Feckin thing that I realised, I probably could have got another printer for not much more that the cost of the head, plus I’d have got an extra set of carts too.

Isn’t hindsight just wonderful, the cost so far is $186 but I’m still waiting on the customs to see what they will hit me with..

Yes but why only the Magenta colour.. I’d put it down to the cart itself..

I think we must take into account that refilling diminishes the life of the printer.
Only when compensated by the cheaper ink this is a winning strategy.

I had to abandon (the printhead of) my first Maxify when the ink pads were 48% full, but despite all experiments it was paid back.

With my second I am about break even now (about 5000p), but I see the printhead is not new anymore. (probably due to 3th party inks in the beginning).
Let's see how the GI-56 will do.

The print head on my Maxify still works fine on high quality but on standard mode the quality drops off dramatically, from the use of inappropriate 3rd party ink too.

So I want to replace it and go back to standard mode use and faster printing, the bottled inks are a much safer bet..

How are the nozzle tests.. do you see significant banding on some (or all) colours?.
Mine are perfect for black, magenta and yellow but cyan shows banding. It doesn't improves with cleaning but, at least, it hasn't gone worse during the last months.
As real life prints on standard quality are fine and I seldom print in colour with my MB5150, I'm not concerned.
All the same, my next purchase of ink won't be Inktec, but GI-56 bottles. In fact, I'm more or less forced to purchase OEM, because my usual supplier of Inktec inks seems to have disappeared.

P.S.
For what it seems, practically all people here who used third party ink on a Maxify has experienced problems sooner or later. Usually starting with mild banding in the nozzle checks, sometimes progressing to more severe issues: i.e. a dead printhead ( that’s me  ).

We need somebody with a ‘virgin’ printhead that hasn’t seen anything else but OEM ink from the setup carts and afterwards GI-56 ink, This is the only way to tell for sure if this bottled Canon ink is a reasonably safe bet for the health of the printheads.

Right, those QY6-0087 printheads seem to be more fussy about ink than the Pixmas. Sort of ink gourmets they are . . :D
