Imagine winning this particular auction:

Bundle items:

- 2 x Pixma MP450

- 1 x Pixma IP1600

- 16 x Pixma IP4200 (Unboxed)

- 6 x Pixma MP500
... I'd be sooooo dead :D

How can you resist?

You could say you paid for only one and the others came for free.

You could say you actually bought them just for the cartridges that came with them.

It's kind of like when I bought some BCI-6 empty cartridges and got a bunch of others that I couldn't use.

So there are two bidders now and about 2 days yet to go.
The bid is up to 5.59 British Pounds! That averages 0.15 each.

Yes... but my fiance is clever... She'd point out how nice a shelter they'd make if we stacked them up in the garden along with some of my other stuff which would be joining me in said garden..

.. all with a sweet smile ;)... Stupid she ain't :D

... It's tempting but last count I've got sitting round here:
- 2 new iP4200's
- 1 CIS fitted iP4300 (that needs fixing)
- 1 CIS fitted iP5200 (needs repriming)
- 1 CIS fitted MP830 (works great)
- 1 HP L7680 (take the CIS as read from here on out :p)
- 1 MP500 (needs some work)
- 1 iX4000
- 3 K550 in boxes or out with, yes you guessed it a CIS
- 1 new IP4500 (still in its box)
- 1 new RX700 (as above)

.. oh and about 6 more spares/repair printers dotted around... No sorry, recount.. that's 8 units...

... so yeah.. I think I'd best wait a while.. I like life :p

So...they went for 51 pounds, that's less than a pound and a half per printer.

I'll bet if someone were selling a bunch of Canon printers that used BCI-6 cartridges, they would go for a lot more.

In England, are printers one of those electronic items that you're not allow to throw away but rather have to pay a fee to recycle or scrap?

Yup... to someone who will likely make a profit on recycling about three quarters of them or at least getting printheads, etc.. out of them.

Actually the iP4000 printers are selling for very little on ebay nowadays.. I watched a couple and the final price is negligible so it's obviously not being picked up by people who know about the reset chips.

We have the whole WEEE directive now which means all electronic goods have to be disposed of properly so that amounts to a "yes" on the fee front.. A pain but I agree it's a necessary pain.
